    BG-14 that's rusty...

It's missing the spring and shutter, sounds like it's missing the orifice then.

    BG-14 that's rusty...

I was given a BG-14 burner that is pretty rusty, still looks like it has a lot of life left in it though. I picked up a 20psi regulator kit for it and found that the hole is to large for the 3/8 flange that came with the kit. Do you think I could tap out the hole and find a bigger flange?

How long did you extract brew before going to All Grain?

3 Extract then had everything together to start AG.

    annapolis, MD area brewers

Sadly I will not be able to make Thursdays meet up due to prior obligations to SWMBO lol, but now that I know I'll keep an eye out for the next one.

    annapolis, MD area brewers

Just seeing this thread, great idea guys. I live just over the bridge and would love to get some opinions on my brews from some fellow home brewers. I've been brewing for about a year and a half now and have moved to all grain for the last few batches using a 3 tier gravity setup that's been...

    Avoiding buying bottles!

I second those who have talked about the oxyclean bath. I have done the same thing with great luck. Awesome! I buddy of mine, also a fellow brewer just gave me a bunch of bombers and 750ml bottles that were taking up too much room in his garage... assuming SWMBO had something to do with...

    Recycled keg...

Skimming through a site I saw this and had to laugh... if I had a brew pub or something similar I'd make these in a heartbeat.

a friend tried one of my homebrews...

Sounds like a buddy of mine... when he first learned that I started brewing he was ragging on me saying how it'll suck ect... tasted my first brew and has been stealing them ever since. He sat in on my last brew day and was asking all kinds of questions so I'm willing to bet he's going to start...

Added DME... wort turned to cottage cheese

Typically after steeping and removing the grain I would bring the temperature up to boiling, cut the burner off and while stirring add the dme until dissolved, then turn the heat back on. Sounds like it was too cool.

    Ever had hesitation...

Here it is, had a great dark head that had good retention... I was a little slow on getting the camera up though. The bourbon is still a little strong up front but finishes nicely.
  17. Old oak barrel bourbon ale. Head dropped some before I could get the camera up on the phone.

Tasting great! I think a couple more months and it will be spot on.

Bucket lid popped off and brew in airlock.

Speaking from experience you're probably fine to go ahead and reseat the lid and clean/refill the airlock at this point. On future brews look into using a blow off tube assembly instead of an airlock for initial fermentation... will save your sanity. My experience was that I wish I had a video...
