    Beersmith FG estimates

The recipe is a Sculpin IPA clone The yeast is: WLP001 The grain bill is: 5lbs 2-row 4lb Light DME 8oz Caravienne Malt 4oz Carapils 12oz Caramel 10L OG estimate 1.068 / FG estimate 1.016 / ABV 6.91. The ABV is right, but I'd like to be more in the range of 1.063 /1.008. Thanks guys.

    Ballast points sculpin IPA

I know this post was a long time ago but what would be the main method for getting that FG to around 1.008? The lower mash temp of about 148F?

    Beersmith FG estimates

Hey guys, I'm a couple of years into brewing, but just getting to grips with Beersmith for the first time. Just wondered how reliable it is when it comes to FG estimates. I understand it's easy for it to get a SG, IBU and ABV estimate from the grain/hop bill, but there are other factors that...

    Sorachi Ace hops usage

Thanks so much! I appreciate your input. The recipe I'm using calls for continuous hoping throughout the boil and then some in secondary too.

    Sorachi Ace hops usage

Hey guys, I'm looking at a Brooklyn-inspired Saison recipe which calls for the use of Sorachi Ace hops. However, the recipe calls for a whopping 7.5oz of them. I'm not the most experienced brewer (this will be my 5th batch), but that sure seems like an awful lot...

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

Thanks again, super helpful. I'm buying all of the ingredients separately as it was an all-grain kit which I'm modifying to make it PM. Going to switch out around half of the 2-row for the equivalent in pale LME.

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

Thanks so much for the feedback. My plan is to pull back on the grain bill and substitute in some LME (about .70 to the lb depending on the efficiency of the mash) in order to make the brewing process easier. I'd prefer to keep it more on the sessionable side rather than verging into imperial...

American Amber Ale Caramel Amber Ale

Hey guys, I'm in the process of getting everything together for an Amber Ale. It's a Northern Brewer all-grain kit which I'm turning into a partial mash (http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/american-amber-ale-all-grain-kit.html). However, I wondered whether adding the caramel syrup would...

    Wyeast packed opened before activation

Hi everyone, This is the first time I'd used a Wyeast smack pack for a brew I'm planning tonight. Half asleep this morning I came to activate the pack. I stupidly assumed there would be a packet within the packet and tore the corner slightly. When the yeast smell hit me, I realised my...
