    Modified BIAB?

Thanks for the note. I had a hoist at one point but my setup is mobile so unless I build an arm into my stand which isn't that practical for me, it's not an option. As to the pump, I already have one which is used successfully to recirc the mash in the keggle with no problems (similar to High...

    Modified BIAB?

I'm exploring the idea of doing a modified BIAB setup allowing me to do larger (10gal) batches without any of the heavy lifting (i've got some back issues). What I want is a 50-60L cooler, with bag inside, next to and draining into my keggle. I will then be recirculating wort from the keggle...

    Beersmith keggle BIAB profile.

This is what mine looks like. That said, I just moved to Beersmith from Brewers Friend myself and have only done one batch with this setup. It's going to take me a little more time to dial it in. Equipment Profile: Lee's Keggle Batch Size: 5.50 gal Mash Tun Volume: 15.50 gal Mash Tun Weight...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

I heard John Palmer and Jamil Zainasheff talk about this on the 1-6-14 episode of Brew Strong. They talked briefly about how cool the system was. I hope that means it will be released soon. I'm really interested in it.

    Blend yeast or blend batches?

Thanks for the help! I'll give it a try next time and see how it goes.

    Blend yeast or blend batches?

So a couple months ago I did a little experiment with one of my wheat recipes. I brewed a 10 gal batch split into two carboys and tried two different yeasts, WLP300 and WLP320. After comparing the two, what I surprisingly found was that I liked best an almost 50/50 blend of the two beers...

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

Thanks. This was my first time working with tile. Much easier than I thought.

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Here is my new BIAB setup. All the wood is reclaimed and the tiles were donated by a friend of mine. Still have a few finishing touches but I really like how it came out and works for me.

    Over Shooting Final Gravity

Well now I don't know what to do. I tested my thermometer against two others at various temps and it was within one degree of the others. Also, I kegged two other brews last night and they both went past their estimated FG. Now what?

    Over Shooting Final Gravity

Thanks for the response. I brew all-grain via BIAB and my thermometer is good. I use Brewer's Friend and BeerSmith for my recipes. The recipe I referenced called for 90min at 152 & I kept pretty close to that. Yeast was WLP540 Abbey Ale.

    Over Shooting Final Gravity

So I need a little help. Over my last two batches, I have been overshooting my final gravity by quite a bit. I've been hitting my OG right on but have blown past my expected final gravity. One example had an expected OG of 1.107 (I was a little under at 1.104) and an expected FG of 1.023...

Show Me Your Wood Brew Sculpture/Rig

I've been trolling this thread for quite a while, getting ideas and making plans for my own stand. Its a work in progress and hope to have it done in the next week or so. I was going to wait to post pics until it was done but I'm getting excited about how it is coming out and wanted to reach...

Software / workflow suggestions wanted. (Beersmith vs Brewers Friend)

I'm having trouble finding a software solution and workflow that works for me and was hoping for some suggestions from the community. I have been using Brewers Friend for a while now and really like it, however I use my ipad during brew day and the online software isn't always the easiest to use...

    Is this bad?

It's been in there about four weeks total. That said, I checked it last week and everything looked fine.

    Is this bad?

I went out to the garage today to dry hop my latest batch and found the airlock had somehow fallen off and the following (pictures below) floating on a thin layer on the top. Is it infected? Am I screwed? What should I do?

    Tower of Power

Any thoughts on how well this would work with a BIAB setup? It seems like it would be a great controller out of the box to work with my system.
