    Home Brewer TV #25... Yeast

If they didn't recommend Troegs I was going to! I would say your best bet is to contact the Brewers directly. If the Troegs Bro's or whoever out East believes the exposure is worth it, then I'm sure they would have know probably sending a bottle or two your way.

    Home Brewer TV #25... Yeast

Great show! I am also a fan of the Sam Adams Imperial series, real quality big beers. It would be cool if you could get your hands on some beers from east coast breweries, even though they don't distribute out there. But thats really just me being selfish!

    Hefeweizen Pale Ale??

I'd put my money on this being what happened. The Banana flavor you described I'm pretty positive is from the yeast and as CloneFarmer said, a fermentation temperature that high will increase the Esters. A cooler place like your closet should work, I like to stick around 65-68 degrees for Ale...

    Pineapple as primary in Wit

On the not tasting it. In terms of flavors I also considered Pineapple to be a good neautralizer. Meaning that it balances out the flavors around it to make it smooth (Which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your tastes) But using a Pineapple in conjuction with another, might...

Calculating the Carbonation Contributed by Fruit

ah yes, even I should have known that... Thats what happenes when I think too fast lol. THanks.

Calculating the Carbonation Contributed by Fruit

This is a curiosity based question, I'm not even planning a batch with real fruit, but one of my older batches did and the resulting carbonation was through the roof! My question is, is there a way to determine the amount of sugar in fruit that the yeast will release CO2 from when the fruit...

    Brew #2

Same here, and yeah thats correct. I think an Oatmeal and Milk Stout might be the sweetest beer I've ever tasted  I also had a Milk and Cream stout, Which I didn't think were very different... but it tasted like a Latte.

    Brew #2

Yeah, thats what I wanted to make sure of. In terms of Ales, I don't think I've really ever had one that was literally creamy. But I have heard of batches that use some form of lactose in their Cream Ales.

    Brew #2

I am also new like you, but I was checking to see if there was something unique to give it the cream character, as that could affect how the yeast you are using processes those compounds which could leave some leftover sweetness. Again, I am new so I could be completely off base with this...

    Second brew--wheat recipe

I am a big believer in overly sweet additions to beer having their taste augmented into a mutant offspring of the flavor you were hoping to get out of it. I'd go with a fruit that has more of a nuetral flavor to it, or a more "spicy" flavor, that that it is either bland enough to retain its...

    Second brew--wheat recipe

Crazy, I am about to start my second brew, its going to be a wheat beer, and I'm going to Princeton Homebrew to get ingredients this weekend. If you are from Princeton I'm assuming thats where you went maybe? anyways, the addition of cascade hops to a wheat beer is interesting, I'd be curious...

    Brew #2

I'm jealous of your setup, I just started as well and am looking for a complete overhaul of my equipment! Congratulations as well on #2! If you used a kit does that mean this was a complete extract batch? and Being a Cream ale, do you know the exact ingredients/propotions of those to...

Fruit and Fermentation affect on Carbonation

Thats probably really good advice haha. Yeah, especially because I'm reading up on trying to get closer and closer to AG brewing, I'm thinking I'll probably get some more simple batches under my belt before getting too crazy. Everyones answers were great, there was a lot that I didn't know...

Fruit and Fermentation affect on Carbonation

Being that I went into it pretty blind as a newbie, I followed the advised time from the extract I received (it came with the dry yeast) I did not properly sanitize the fruit before hand, and I am definitely thinking thats what contributed to the off flavors. But I am still curious, after...

Fruit and Fermentation affect on Carbonation

I added the fruit at the beginning of the fermenation process, right into the fermenter.

Fruit and Fermentation affect on Carbonation

Yeah, I agree with that. This was my first ever batch and my sanitation practices were not up to par for sure. Would it be a good idea to use fruit in a secondary fermenter so that the yeast can go through the attenuation phase before coming into contact with the fruit? Or really any kind of...

Fruit and Fermentation affect on Carbonation

Kind of obvious I'm new to brewing huh? haha. Perhaps this should have went into the beginners brewing section, but I'll try and break it down better for you. I added the Fruit as I started the fermentation process. Revvy answered my question I think though, I didn't calculate the sugar...

Fruit and Fermentation affect on Carbonation

So, I was just trying something new with real fruit during the fermantaion process, and being relatively new to Brewing, I didn't think about the effect it might have on Carbonation. After 1 week of conditioning, everything seemed normal. It had a nice smooth taste and the Carbonation was a...

    This forum sucks!!

One of the top 5 classic music videos. Christopher Walken deserves some kind of award from someone for something. I don't care what, just give that man a damn trophy.
