Converting the Frigidaire 7.2 cu ft Chest Freezer

I got the 7 cuft model here: http://www.pcrichard.com/catalog/product.jsp?modelNo=FFC0723GB Here are some pictures to show you how everything fits. I only have 1 corny currently, so cardboard cutouts resemble the others.

Converting the Frigidaire 7.2 cu ft Chest Freezer

Is that the Frigidaire 7.2cf freezer? I got my frigidaire yesterday, and I can fit 4 cornys (snugly) on the bottom, and 2 additional on the hump.

Converting the Frigidaire 7.2 cu ft Chest Freezer

I'm replicating this exact keezer starting tomorrow using the same freezer and temp controller. Hopefully it comes out as good as the one in BYO. I'll post pics later

    Love Temperature switch efficient wiring

One last electrical question for you walker, if ur still watching the thread. I've seen some people use computer fans to circulate the air. First, how do you get the 12v for the fan? Will I have to buy a seperately power supply for the fan? Also, where is the fan mounted usually? Are they...

The stupidest comment on your beer

I just love giving people a double ipa because they don't like my "heavy" beers like the stouts.

    Love Temperature switch efficient wiring

I think I'll still go the cut extension cord route, just because that way I won't have to modify the freezer at all. I can just plug it into the extension cord to the temp switch. And the temp switch and freezer temp control shouldn't fight right? Since the freezer control will always be...

    Love Temperature switch efficient wiring

That makes more sense, thanks. I think I am going to mount the controller in the front collar of the keezer. But thanks for the project box idea, I may use that if I build a fermenting chamber.

    Love Temperature switch efficient wiring

After picking up the latest BYO, I decided to build a keezer. I went with the Love TSX-10140 http://www.drillspot.com/products/466548/Love_TSX-10140_Temperature_Switch I know there are other threads on how to wire this, but I want to know the most efficient way to wire it. I found this...

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

I'm looking at this 7 cu freezer for 4 kegs. http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053&productId=100598963&R=100598963 Do I also need a temperature controller? If I put the freezer on the lowest setting will that still be too cold?

    Dry Hopping in bag

So I'm currently dry hopping my first batch of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale clone, and I'm using a hop bag to do so. I've noticed the hop bag floats. Is this a problem? Should I try to push it to the bottom of the secondary with a sanitized mash paddle every day? :drunk:

    Residue in bottles

It's perfectly normal. I would be concerned if I didn't see it, just leave it in the bottle.

Buckeye Brewer, Columbus, OH Signing in

Hey all, I've lurked around here for a few months now, gaining knowledge through internet osmosis. Right now I'm an extract/partial mash brewer with 4-5 batches behind me. I just recently got kegging equipment, and will soon be getting the turkey fryer and cooler to start all grain once the...

The Jamil Show--Tasty's SN Celebration Clone

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably end up racking into my keg as a secondary and just use a hop bag as I have to do that anyway. As most impatient homebrewers, I want everything faster. Hopefully mine isn't as sweet as what some have been getting. I used 1lb caramel 40 steeped for 45 min...

    Backyard Brewpub

Late subscriber signing in! I think that is every guy's dream, especially on this site. A walk in cooler/cold room would be the icing on the cake. The possibilities for lagering, aging, and a massive yeast bank would be great. I'm hoping to finish my basement soon which will house my future...

The Jamil Show--Tasty's SN Celebration Clone

I can get confused with dry hopping schedules. I have a SNCA ale in the fermentor for about a week and am getting to where I will add the dry hops. I saw you scaled down the dry hop time to 3 days from 2 weeks in the original recipe. Is the length of dry hopping critical? Will there be...

    Harvesting Yeast From Fermenter

Using yeast like this batch to batch seems like it can produce off flavors. Have you tried using yeast say from an IPA to make a low gravity amber ale next? Would that even work with over bittering the beer?
