    Recipe Critiques

Okay. Thank you, everyone. Lots of information to absorb and read through. @IslandLizard there's a HBS about a half hour drive from me that's rarely open. It was closed for the majority of quarantine and its website is trash. I tried ordering something, and it's just all over the place. Like I...

    Recipe Critiques

Trust me, US-05 is on my "to buy" list with bottle caps. I tried a few experiments with my Baker's yeast to see how it does with temps, flocculation and attenuation. I'm not an expert, but I know what does in a week for the most part.

    Recipe Critiques

Thanks. The research I had done seemed to say that using extract and grains was considered a partial mash. This is what you get when you search the term. Maybe I've confused regular steeping grains with a grain that would actually have to be converted to fermentables through proper mashing. I...

    Epsom Salts Walgreens

Please be careful not to use bath salts. Then you'd make a zombie beer, faces would get eaten... That only happens in Florida.

    What are you drinking now?

I searched Sea Hag to find a conversation I had on here and ended up seeing a bunch of people drinking it. It's a damn good beer and every post was from our referenced @Remmy . ...With the UConn husky profile pic.

    Recipe Critiques

Forgive me if I'm being ignorant or naive, but I thought brewing with LME and cornstarch in considered a partial mash? I mean, if this recipe just doesn't make sense, then I can just add my hops, brown sugar and gooseberries. I figured it would be a fun experiment.

    CT Brewers Check-In

I'm from Milford, only have 2 brews under my belt but have been a beer nerd for years. I enjoy talking beer, drinking beer and now, making beer. I was planning on buying a house in the North Branford area, but this situation has dried up the market a little. And just because we have so many...

    Recipe Critiques

I'm working on a Peruvian Purple Cornmeal Chicha de Jora INSPIRED brew. It's an experiment in partial mash, building a recipe, seeing if my math works out and adjuncts. I don't have a LHBS currently, so I could only find Baker's yeast at the beginning of quarantine. The Fleischmann's yeast...

    Slow Cooker Mash?

I am only on extract, but want to switch to partial and all-grain. Limited space and lack of a large kettle got me to think about using a slow cooker to mash. I have seen one guy from Australia doing it but am curious if anyone here has and if it's worth doing. Thanks.

    Black-Blackberry IPA

I haven't brewed a black IPA get, but I would expect it would be somewhat normal, then the hop additions help to curb that?

    Grocery Store Ingredients?

I'm not expecting a bright purple. I could brew with Ube if I'm looking for that. I am just trying something different and based on an old recipe. I figured it would be fun and experimental to use grains I've never used for a different style. And I have a lot of hops that lend earthy, spicy flavors.

    Grocery Store Ingredients?

Very nice. Thank you so much. I have a recipe I think might work. I'm still going to fine-tune it, as my fermenter still has my Earl Grey Ale in it. Very appreciated!

    Grocery Store Ingredients?

This is a list of great I find on Whole Foods site. I always see their "grain silo" aisle.
