    Champion black me stout clone?

Had one tonight, and I want to know - roughly - what they used in the way of dark grains. Roasted barley? Chocolate malt? Black Patent? Carafe? I'd like to do something similar with my next stout. Their website gives some insight, but I thought someone might have tried to clone it...

    Winter Pick-Me-Up Coffee Stout Critique

Good bean question. I was wondering the same thing in regards to cold brewing. Even if I sanitize the jar, water, and filter, wouldn't the coffee still be "contaminated"?

    SWMBO doesnt like IPAs

I, too, feel that everyone should enjoy at least a little lupulin in their diet, but my better half hasn't seen the light yet. God help me, I haven't exactly been a saint with this knowledge. "I thought you said this one wouldn't be so bitter?!?!" "Is it? Sorry baby, I'll make the next batch...

First SMASH - Munich and Hallertau

At the last minute, I decided to use WPL 036 dusseldrof altbier instead of the S-05. I'm currently fermenting at about 62 degrees. I've never used this yeast, and was curious how others have had things turn out.

First SMASH - Munich and Hallertau

I was gunna add some victory and a little bit of black barley, but I decided it's time I stopped complicating my brew-life. Here's the recipe. Let me know what you think. 90 min. boil, 5 gallon batch 2 cans Briess munich LME (3.3 lbs. each) 2 oz. German Hallertau (2.7aau) @ 90 min. 2...

Kolsch or Blonde - What Did I Make?

Thanks for the help! Sounds like a blonde to me.

Kolsch or Blonde - What Did I Make?

The BJCP was the 1st place I checked. Pretty much my impression was that a Kolsch has a pleasant hop bite at the end, while the blonde does not. My IBU's - 29 My SRM's - 6 (straw/golden) In all respects, all the categories fit the criteria. With a Blonde Ale category being a little bit...

Kolsch or Blonde - What Did I Make?

I used an Alt yeast, a pilsner/vienna/munich malt bill, and all German Hops. The OG was 1.046, FG 1.009 (an abv of 4.8%). The beer was as balanced as a brew can be, and has a very nice biscuit aftertaste. There is no bitter hop bite, and the malt sweetness is very restrained. On which...

    American IPA Wedding Day IPA

Great wedding! The beer got a great response, and most people were surprised that it was homemade. I may have converted a few beer drinkers :)

Wild yeast 2 different strains by accident

Patients is not one of my virtues. I have made great beers driven by impulsion, and destroyed my fair share by the same hand. I'd say brew two batches, one with each yeast, and let the goodtimes roll! If you want to save a little money, you could just do two 2.5 gal. batches. Who knows...

My taste buds respectfully disagree :) 5 oz. of hops is just right for an IPA.

    American IPA Wedding Day IPA

This was a critique of a Dogfish 60 min. clone I did a while ago. As much as I love the Dogfish's 60 min., I like my IPAs a little less balanced than the 60 min. - not a west cost bitter bomb, but something more hop-assertive than the 60 min. For the grain bill percentages, I took Yoopers...

    Hoppier Dogfish 60 recipe thoughts

Just transferred to the keg, and boy oh boy am I going to drink the sh!t outta this brew! The bitterness is present on the front, but mostly big pine flavor with an almost sweet citrus back to it. The finish has a slight lingering of hops, but nothing abrasive. No grassy notes. The amber...
