    My rig

Nice set up. I can only imagine where you will take this once you get beyond the newbie stage. One day, I hope to have a rig half as nice as that one. So far, I am still using my Ale Pail.

Congrats to Pol!! His setup is featured in BYO!!

Same here. I subscribed in December and have yet to receive a copy. I may just go buy this month's issue from the LHBS. Then again, if I do, it'll come in the mail the next day. Congrats to The Pol & B-Dub. Good job guys. Some day I hope to get to your level of brewing knowledge. Still a...

Harpoon, or How I fell in love with porter but what the...?

Sounds like you had a Munich Dark, which is a Dunkel. I'm a huge Harpoon IPA fan, but the Munich Dark is a great beer as well. Harpoon has a great lineup of beers. They even have a 100 Barrel Series of limited edition beers as well as their Leviathin Series of big beers. Those are only produced...

    ruination?

We have several Kappys Liquors here in the north shore area. I know for a fact that they carry Stone Ruination IPA. I just picked some up last night. I personally love this beer, but it is quite expensive. They are getting somewhere around $17 a 6 pack. I think I will try the Ballast Point IPA...

    Anyone in southern MA?

:off: I've got a coworker from Brockton that is thinking about getting into homebrewing. Do you know of any LHBS's in that area? Also, Your LHBS has beer on tap? That is great, I wish mine did. What is the name of the place? I frequent Middleboro and would pop in to check them out while...

    Hello from Sunny San Diego!

Welcome. San Diego is an awesome town. I am in Massachusetts but visited San Diego twice. What a great beer town. So many microbreweries in the area, I was in heaven. We spent half the week eating at the Stone Brewery enjoying their excellent beers and food selection in their beer garden. I...

    Craft brews in Boston

Was also gonna suggest Harpoon Munich Dark. This is a great beer. I am a huge Harpoon IPA fan, but they put out a great lineup of beers. Sounds like you are already a fan of Harpoon. Look into their Friend of Harpoon card. They offer discounted events throughout the year as well as Harpoon Helps...

    How to enrage your wife...

A dedicated beer fridge is a must. I've got one on an enclosed back porch just off of my kitchen. It is out of the way, yet still close by. My wife actually likes the idea and knows enough not to store any food in my beer fridge LOL. She actually came home last night and told me her parent's...

confused about a tip in the latest 'byo' mag (hops)

A HOP TEA??! Tell me more about this hop tea you speak of. I have never heard of it. Do you use spent hop plugs? fresh hops? My wife and I are both major hopheads and she is a tea drinker. Sounds like something she may really like.

Typical response from a "person" not from the North Shore.

    Hello from a Masshole

It's worse than you think, I lived in Chelsea for 23 years. I made a move up when I came to Revere!!

    Brewed my 1st batch tonight.

Neither could I. I am a big fan of hoppy beers and wanted a username to reflect that. Most of what I could think of was taken so I-Hop it was.

    Brewed my 1st batch tonight.

Oh, and did I mention that the house smells like a brewery?! Even my wife is enjoying all the smells.

    Brewed my 1st batch tonight.

Alright... I got the True Brew homebrew kit for Christmas along with a Hophead IPA recipe kit. I have been chomping at the bit ever since. I read many many threads here as well as "How to Brew" by John Palmer online and finally found a day with several hours to myself. What a blast!! My 1st...

Trying my first IPA - Interesting

I have become hooked on the IPA's since my cousin turned me on to them. Problem is, once you get a mouthful of hops, you never wanna go back. I have some Hopzilla and Arrogant Brewer (Arrogant Bastard clone) in my fridge now. These were brewed at a "Brew Your Own" facility nearby. I used to love...

OMG My Stone Ruination has disappeared!

What a bummer!!!! Stone puts out an excellent product. My wife & I toured their facility this past fall during a trip to San Diego. We went back to their beer garden for dinner & beers 3 more times on that trip. They are very homebrewer friendly too. Ruination IPA is the best of their...

    Greetings from MA

Welcome from Eastern Mass (Revere to be exact). Good luck with the all grain. I'm on extract brewing still myself. I hope to venture to bigger & better things in the future. Once I get on a roll with the extracts, I may try to build an all grain setup.

    Using a burner indoors...

The BTU's on the burner are much higher than a burner on a stovetop. The more propane that is burned = more CO. Also, propane is heavier than air, so in the event of a leak, an open window will not help. The propane gas will sit low in the room and build up. Very dangerous situation. Just a few...
