BC style pale ale - Your thoughts and advise please

I considered it but the way the price of extract works out makes this way is significantly cheaper. And yes I normally do mini mashes, they are very little extra work, save some money and if your using something other then just 2 row as the base malt provide a closer flavour to the all grain...

BC style pale ale - Your thoughts and advise please

Our office always supplies the liquor and the rides home. It will not be me serving the beer to any one. I am just making it, the company paid for all the ingredients. There is no reason anyone will be driving. Quite frankly those 10 g will be a drop in the bucket compared to all the coolers...

BC style pale ale - Your thoughts and advise please

Perhaps I should be more specific. Do you think 2 weeks in the fermenter, and two weeks in the kegs under pressure @ 45 - 50F will be enough to make this beer drinkable? Should I use some kind of clearing agent after the gravity stabilizes? Or drop the gravity a bit? I do a mild at 1.040 that...

Kit brewing - boiling hopped malt extract?

I boil for them for about 5 minutes to drive out an odd aromas You could in theory boil out their finishing hops with a 60 minute boil adding your own finishing hops towards the end. But if you boil for any length of time you will only get bittering from the pre hopped extract.

BC style pale ale - Your thoughts and advise please

This is my current draft of a BC style pale ale that I am going to brew for my office Christmas party. Will be doing 2 5 gallons batches as I can't do a boil large enough to do 10 gallons. I am hoping to be able to ferment for 10 - 12 days and keg/force carb and chill for 5 days and then be able...

I have been looking for co2 sources in canada. Looking at the various suppliers catalogs everything is listed as cga ### i think co2 is listed as cga 320 here. If its the same in the states then its probably the same in a lot of places around the US too. Its also posible coke is using a...

Here goes ... need opinions on types of beer for virgin palate

Yup my wife doesn't like beer... Nope not true at all. That's what she though until she started drinking my beer. She will drink (or steal right from my freaking hand) anything I make that's not stupidly hopped. fruit might help, or chocolate commercial beers she will drink more than one of...

question about my root beer extract and what to add

soapy flavours can be the result of a number of things. from john palmer: In terms of naturally carbonated soda it could have been you over carbonated. This can cause an a number of off flavours, you should check the bottles every 12 hours and refrigerated as soon as they are hard. Only use...

    B.C. Pale Ale

BC pale ales are very much like ESB's or Best Bitters. Granville Island Brewery's English Bay Pale Ale is the classic. The recipe from Dans Homebrew looks close but GIB's English Bay is the beer most commonly found in my fridge other then home brew. It doesn't have cascade hops. Id use Fuggles...

Any body ever tried this http://www.coopers.com.au/the-brewers-guild/how-to-brew/mid-strength/alcoholic-ginger-beer I can never seem to keep the yeast out of suspension with ginger sodas and have given up on them until I start kegging. Anyone else have that issue? they jump back into...

Newbie advice for Coopers DIY kit

What you describe is pretty normally for any beer. If the lid is bulging out, you can burp it like Tupperware (lift the edge of the lid slightly) to release excess pressure. It should not be bulging if the airlock is working properly, it might have gotten blocked. Its not really a big deal...

    Removing Trub

mr. beer fermentors (the lbk as the mr beer fans call it) is a great fv but as with anything with a spigot you have to make sure its closed and stays closed. There are 2 styles of spigots for lbks. the one that takes the bottling wand looks like its lever sits flat when closed and presses down...
