Conical owners - should I pull the trigger?

When it comes down to it, you do not have homebrew at all. You can get plenty of good quality beer, cheaper and easier than homebrewing. It is all comes down to practicality and what the heart wants. Do you have the spare finances that allow you to indulge in a conical? Do you have the space...

Grainfather S40, 12 gallon capacity, 11 galon batch? How?

Blichmann makes a nice power controller. For an off the shelf, ready to go out of the box, at $150 it is a nice solution. It is just a power controller, no smarts or temperature regulation. If you want to go DIY and build something you can reduce the cost considerably.

Wiring Diagram Help 200/30a 1 element 1 pump

Just to be clear. I am not saying that you should not or cannot do it. Just advising that you verify if you can.

Wiring Diagram Help 200/30a 1 element 1 pump

I recommend that you research and confirm that an SSR is an appropriate way to control a pump. A pump motor is different from a light bulb filament. A complete explanation to this issue requires knowledge that I do not have. I have a March style pump and it gets it's 100% 120 VAC. I throttle...

    Unfortunate mashtun.

I do not recommend soaking anything in bleach. A short exposure time (like less than a minute) is all you need. Plus extended exposure time to bleach can have unintended side affects. Most plastics and glass could get "soaked", but I doubt it would be any more effective. IMO Bleach is an...

    Quick liquid yeast question

https://www.experimentalbrew.com/blogs/saccharomyces/shaken-not-stirred-stir-plate-myth-buster Yeast, cell counts, volume, use of starters is an interesting topic. For home brewers it chock full of scientific research mixed in with anecdotal evidence. I know people that have toured White Labs...

    Quick liquid yeast question

If you do not have the access to stirplate and flask, check out making a vitality starter. AKA 007 Starter, or Shaken Not Stirred Starter. I do not intend to start a debate. There are some home brewers find that the 007 starter more simple and produces high quality results. I hope there is no...

    Unfortunate mashtun.

I would get some unscented Clorox. Put on a pair of gloves, soak a rag in the Clorox and swab down all the surfaces. Squeeze the rag and drip Clorox into all the nooks and crannies. Do not soak anything, rinse with lots of water. You can follow up with some baking soda +water. Baking soda is...

Good substitution for Fuggles in an English IPA?

The correct way to spell fuggle is East Kent Golding. I do not like fuggle hops and will always substitute them every time. I know I am not alone in this opinion.

Wiring Diagram Help 200/30a 1 element 1 pump

I will strongly recommend putting the GFCI in the breaker panel, if practical. This will give you the maximum protection against mishap and misadventure. If you put the GFCI breaker in the control box, you do not have protection from the AC socket to your box. Granted, the most likely place you...

Wiring Diagram Help 200/30a 1 element 1 pump

The schematic is pretty much correct. A few comments: You do not detail the controller for the heating element SSR and pump relay. SSR is is pretty forgiving in terms of what it draws from a control system. Amusing your pump relay is a mechanical relay with a coil and contacts, make sure the...

Many ways to slice and dice your wish list. Much will depend on what you budget, where you choose to source your components and your level of being comfortable with electrical circuits 1) Put a light in parallel with the rest of the rest of your system. On this board, Estop means different...

    SSVR Help!

True. I kind of assumed this would be a watch dog threshold application The TC 1000 is intended for a refrigerator type of application. I have the Inkbird TC308 on my chest freezer. It has a built in delay to eliminate any relay on/off chatter. The Inkbird TC1000 should not use his Inkbird on a...

    SSVR Help!

It looks like the ITC 1000 has dry relay contacts. You could put the contracts in series with the rheostat leads. This method for the SSVR to be activated, the rheostat would need to be in a power on setting AND the Inkbird relay would be closed. In other words, instead of turning power on...

    Element location

Absolutely you need a way to throttle down the power to the element. If you do not, you will make this mistake once. The least expensive way to do this, that i know of is with an SSVR. Off the shelf, Blichmann has a product reasonably priced at ~$150.

    240V Electric Plug Liquid Protection

If you have in the back of your mind the adage, "Water And Electrify Do Not Mix", you can fabricate something to reduce the chances of water getting into the electrical connectors. I have had the same thought. All I needed is a splash guard. In case a hose get away and starts spraying, or you...

a country without hops, brewers yeast or kits

While it is less than optimum, but it could a "better than nothing" option, Muntons brew in a bag kit. All things considered, teh product has received favorable reviews. I have no idea about how you might get it into your country and into your possession. But getting everything you need in one...
