    In almost 20 yrs of homebrewing, i have never done a starterd. Dark or light, same same to me besides they are all ales. I have never done a lager. I just basically take a sample off the top of the yeast, when it is cold to make sure i am not tasting crap...i guess that is my standard for...

    I harvest at the end of my primary ferm...i just put in Kegerator open space and forget about it until i brew again. I pitch everything in the jar. But take an ounce (of beer) to try to make sure no mold has grown. I tend to have a backup yeast avail just in case. I have found mold one or...

    I use chicompany.net for a lot of my supplies...always have at least one spare anything for my kegs...parts are cheap, 5 gallons of beer is 25 to 100 dollars, plus the time it took to brew.

    Thought I had purchased maris otter for my stout...but the bag was roasted barley. Needless to say gravity was low and there was almost no fermentables...finally noticed it was roasted barley the next time I went to brew.

    Yeah, mine died 3 weeks ago, just got new one, but i moved kegs to root cellar...48 degrees in wisconsin during Jan, so still had pucnic taps to enjoy homebrew
