Free Graphics & Photos For Your Labels

I would be happy to share my home brew profits with those artists that contribute to my labels. Right now though, I am running a deficit.:D I will say that I do, in most cases, use non-copyright material. In my business, however, I am an active subscriber to iStock and pay for those tools that...

    AHS Instructions Online?

I am not tearing anyone down, just saying that I had a positive experience with AHS even though their instructions are not online. I would like for AHS to post the instructions, but it won't stop me from buying from them.

    AHS Instructions Online?

My assumption as to why they don't is the detail they have in their instructions. I just got 3 AGs kit that list specific types and amounts of grains and adjuncts. You could easily use their instructions as a recipe and buy your stuff elsewhere to produce the same product, which is why I...

    Questions from first-time brewers

During my first AG today, I kept my laptop with me so I could search for answers as questions came up. I know you guys would answer any questions, but I only had time for searching. When the kettle is boiling, a search is all you got. Thanks all...

    What else could go wrong?

Oh, and it was my first time cooking outdoors, and the temp was in the 20s. I just don't know how you Northerners do it. Brrrrr. However, had I made that mess indoors SWMBO would be returning my gifts.

    What else could go wrong?

Ok, no worries, but a cautionary tale... So today, I did my first all grain batch. What an experience! But first a little background info. For Christmas, my SWMBO very generously gave me a 10g mash tun (cooler) with SS false bottom, a grain mill, a bayou burner, scales, and bunch of other...

    Yet another new label

Really, what catchy title can you come up with here? I am about to brew a Chimay Grande Reserve clone from AHS, and every time I mention the word Chimay around my wife she breaks into song. Here is my first cut at a label... Homage to Billy Joel.

Decided to create a label (feedback welcome)

I actually used a QR Code in mine that included the Northern Brewer URL for the kit it came from. If I go back later and want to remake it, I can figure out where it came from, or if one of my friends wants to brew it...

Been trying to use a barcode scanner to read the barcode. What does it say? Looks good though.

    New Chinook IPA Label

Getting ready to bottle an IPA based on the Northern Brewer Chinook IPA extract w/ speciality grains. Going to use this label. What do you think? By the way, the QR Code in the corner includes the name, bottling date and URL for purchasing the kit. Comments?

    Enamel Pot Reuse/Repair

Well, some say yes, some say no. I am unwilling to take a chance for the $40 cost of a new 5 gallon SS pot. Thanks for the feedback.

    Enamel Pot Reuse/Repair

I have a 4-gallon enamel pot that I used back in the 90s as my primary brew pot. I know people warn against using them as brew pots as when they chip, they rust and impart yada, yada, yada... Well, I am moving to all grain, and I now have an SS 8 gallon brewpot, so that is not an issue...

Do I need a corker for belgian beer bottles?

I just did a belgian tripel in 750ml bottles with corks and cages. Had I not had a floor corker from my wine making days, this would have bordered on the impossible, and certainly in the not worth the effort category. It really makes a classy presentation, but they are a pain in the butt to open.

    Verizon iPhone?!?!

Over the years I have installed hundreds if not thousands of PCs. But recently have converted my entire family to macs. We have 4 Mac books, as well a a huge iMac. We have 5 or 6 iPods, and 2 iPads. So you might call me a fan boy. However 2 of our 4 phones are verizon androids. Verizon for...

Bulk Irish Moss: Coarse or Fine?

My LHBS is more Health Food Store than LHBS, so advice is limited. While I was in there today I decided to get some Irish Moss to put in inventory for later. I was faced with the choice of a coarse irish moss, or a fine powder style. Having no recent experience with Irish Moss, I made a...
