NEIPA - Save me from wasting a bunch of $$

I’m kegging this and will try not to introduce any oxygen during transfer. I’ve dropped the acidulated down to 6oz after I plugged everything into a water calc. Everything I’ve been reading indicates to me I want to be on the low end of the ph range for this. If I can produce something I like...

NEIPA - Save me from wasting a bunch of $$

Also, using London Fog WLP066 but BeerSmith 2 doesn't have this one to select from.

    Make IPA Clear Again

Funny that we cross posted opposite ends !! While i am brewing my first NEIPA this week, I'm honestly hoping I don't create a milkshake. I'm not interested in brewing a beer that i have to chew thru, but i am hopeful that using some of the processes of NEIPA and a yeast that says it...

NEIPA - Save me from wasting a bunch of $$

So i'm taking the plunge into NEIPA/Hazy, and brewing the below. As there is a lot more cost in this brew hoping someone can eyeball this and provide some quick feedback. I am planning to dry hop the Citra addition right at peak fermentation, then the Amarillo dry hop 3 days later. I also...

    Clogging the plate chiller

Best suggestion i could offer is switch to a counterflow or immersion. :( Unfortunately, I lived this same dilemma for awhile as I loved how quick the plate chiller would work when it wasn't gunking up. Unless i'm only using whole cone hops the plate chiller doesn't make an appearance in my...

St Pete's and Clearwater and Ft Myers - beer beer beer

That is quite the loss. I just had their gose at the Dunedin beer fest last week. Hadn’t had it in a long time and recalled how damn good it was. Classic style perfected by him. RIP Greg

    Lemon Shandy with a 3711?

I use 3711 a lot. You will still get saison character at lower temps. It's not as yeasty as the Belgian strains, but it will ferment your wort with incredible attenuation. I have had 1.06 beers go down to 1.000 - 1.002 range. It's a great yeast but I've only used it when brewing saisons and...

    House Beer

Years back I used a “simple saison” recipe from home brew academy website. It stays pretty much the same, but have changed the yeast a few times. I’m back to 3711 and this beer is always on tap at our home. I dry hopped it one time with 3 oz of Citra and loved it. Haven’t done that again but I...

    $50 for a Counterflow Chiller!

Put this to the test. It did fairly well. Boiling to 90 degrees in about 15-20 mins (I have 83 degree groundwater) Not a bad spend for 40 bucks

    Brew-Boss Opinions

Just brewed on my BB the other day and thought about this. I'm not sure how the new setups are being sold but do you have the kettle pickup tube/elbow? I bought mine after the fact as it didn't come with the "full" package, and it easily added about .5 to .75 gallons from kettle to ferementor...

Ship beer vs fly with it?

This times 10. Nothing worse than getting to the check in desk and being over weight with the beer. Even SWA will hit you with $75 fee or ask you to take some out to get to 50 lbs. I do kind of a Russian doll thing with luggage if I know I'm bringing beer back. Packing a small empty duffel...

Ship beer vs fly with it?

Just an FYI, flying with beer/alcohol in checked bags is perfectly legal under TSA guidelines. No agent should be confiscating your beer or forcing you to remove it. I have done this so many times i've lost count. I do often get the little "you're bag was inspected" flyer from TSA in my bag...

Single Hop Experiment kits - $14-18 at Amazon

Got 2 of the 3 I ordered today. All in good shape. They were all supposed to be milled grains, but one of the 2 row 10lb packs is clearly not milled. Totally fine by me as I can delay brewing that one. Great deal on these and gonna have to keep an eye on their amazon storefront going forward.

Single Hop Experiment kits - $14-18 at Amazon

i picked up a Belma Hops & a whole cone Centennial kit. I paid particular attention to the shipping size/weight info though. Lots of those listed said they were 2 lbs shipping weight and box dimensions were quite small. The weights on the ones i ordered and most others was in-line with what...

That falconers flight doesn't look like a 5G kit based on the weight listed. Others look interesting. Thx for posting

7 gallon SS Brewtech conical fermenter.

If not spoken for, and it gets left behind, I may be interested in gas post & yeast collection setup.

Be careful with nearly boiling caustic - gnarly pics, open carefully

Ouch. Get some silver sulfate for that quick. You now have a good beer story, and possibly a catchy name for that brew. My arms can attest to that stuff working to heal those kinda wounds. One of my house beers........ "2nd Degree Saison" Hope it heals soon!!
