Best place to buy bulk grain from

Consider Brew Brothers http://www.brewbrothers.biz/ they are in Oregon and will give you a shipping quote. I'd imagine to get to California, the shipping prices wouldn't be so bad. They ship FexEx ground. Check out their grain bag prices as well as by the pound. Great malt, great prices.

    pickup tube problems

update, for those that care..... turns out, it was a steam issue. If I waited about 5 minutes for the boil to completely die, then my tube worked. I had about 1/4" clearance between the bottom of my boiler and the pick up tube, but.... this seemed to be the issue. Sort of a bummer, as I...

    Nottingham Yeast recall

A plus note... I bought my yeast from Williams Brewing, and they made good with me by replacing what I bought from them. ( I bought it in July, when this problem seemed to be just coming about) Not William's fault, but they made good with me. Hat tip to them. Sucks now though. I am hoping my...

    Nottingham Yeast recall

Awesome. I just pitched some of this on a porter I brewed - and I'm into day 2 with no activity, which is why I queried this the board for Nottingham - in all my past 10 batches, that stuff goes off like a rocket when my carboy is at 65 degrees. Takes no more than 10 hrs to start. Never failed...

    pickup tube problems

Yeah, that's the weird part, with water, it works. And thats the most confusing part, with that much liquid it should be forcing out. It sort of dribbled out of the male QD not fast but you know, enough to fill the hose I would think to at least prime the pump. but when I put the hose on...
