    Looking to brew again

Welcome to the forums, I'm sure you'll find all the info you need around here. Of course, I think the first tip any of us might recommend is grabbing a copy of Papazian's "Complete Joy of Homebrewing" Once again, welcome and Prost!

Avoiding Beer Showers during Keg change-out

So do I understand correctly that you're moving liquid lines between kegs with gas on them? If so you either need to replace the poppets or go ahead and keep a tool handy for the occasion. I actually have a little pick that I use for disassembling my posts when doing maintenance and works...

Help me spend $2K on Complete (almost) System

my LHBS got in a Grain Father. It's a great system and comes in at $890 according to the website. Complete all in one system, with pump and counterflow chiller. I'm seriously considering getting rid of all the various kettles I've built for one of these guys.

    Fermentation

Then you will have potentially over pitched. Like others have said: Give the carboy a gentle swirl, let the temp rise a few degrees, and you'll probably see something soon.

Another one of" is this infected" posts?

Yea, nothin there. For reference any purposefully infected beer I've seen has always had a pellicle that almost looks like a bubble gum bubble that's about ready to pop.

eBay tap handle - should I be ticked?

Oh, I was thinking this was a $20 total purchase. Cleaning recommendation removed, and refund advised hahah.

eBay tap handle - should I be ticked?

Have you tried cleaning it with a little vinegar and salt? It just looks a little dirty/tarnished to me.

God awful efficiency on first all grain brew

Check your grain crush, also for mashing in I add hot water and my grain at the same time, with an assistant controlling the water hose and stirring vigorously. A full 25 degree tempt drop is really strange though. Normally between transfer time I get a drop of about 12 degrees. Otherwise I mash...

    Beer maturity and forced carbonation

A good Hefe should be cloudy, at least in my opinion. And yea, should be good to drink after a force carb. Take some taste notes on first taste and again in a few weeks. Should help you get a feel for maturing beers.

SSBrewTech Announced a New Insulated Mash Tun!

Awesome! I ordered a new kettle to replace my bare bones keggle this week. They snuck some "spy pics" into my order confirmation of this beauty. Unfortunately I'm in the process of buying a house, and fiance says that's enough toys for now.

    Bottle instead of Secondary

I only secondary for flavor additions, otherwise I primary for 2-3 weeks, then transfer to a keg. Another week under carbing pressure and chilled I pour out a glass. That removes anything I may have picked up in the siphon. Let it sit another week to get properly carbonated and enjoy.

    Never dump it

Only thing I dumped was a peanut butter porter I forgot in its fermenter for ohh... 6 months. It was... well it was special. Luckily it was one of my 1 gallon experiments, so not much lost.

New here and to brewing, intro

Welcome aboard from another Fl native. I'd recommend getting away from the Mr. Beer kits as they are only so-so. If you're set on doing 1 gal batches, Brooklyn Brewshop sells All Grain recipe kits that were a pretty tasty intro to beer brewing for me.

    Unsweetened chocolate baking nibs?

I used ghirardelli cocoa powder as a sub in a recipe that I had brewed previously. A little messier to use, but I'm not sure I could detect a difference between the two taste wise. Mess wise it was a little harder to clean out, but not much after I soaked my carboy with Oxyclean. Still have some...

    Bringing Costs Down...

Jeeeez. Didn't realize partial extract was so expensive. Ingredients on my MOST expensive beer hits $40, and that's all grain, vanilla beans, cocounut, and a few other things. My standard wheat is like $22 (including wyeast slap pack)

    World of Beer

I'm a WoB Loyalty Member as well. Got up to 250 unique beers consumed before the place got a little too crowded for my tastes. That said they carry an amazing selection as they are exclusively a beer bar, and are constantly having awesome events. Last night my local WoB had a Terrapin take...
