What to do with standard upright fridge/freezer

I converted a refrigerator into a fermentation chamber years ago. I added a stand of roughly 15 inches or so. Upon that secured stand sits my conical. Once I am ready to package my finished beer that extra height allows me to bottle and fill kegs via gravity. I have a computer fan that sits on...

    Blichmann Shipping?

Many in denial. But life is now different than 13 months ago. I happened to order a $400.00 piece of homebrew equipment on Wednesday at 3:30PM. It was delivered today, Friday, at 1:03PM. No longer can that type of delivery service be expected. I lucked out. But it was clearly luck. Everything...

    Filtering Home brewing?

Good advice above. Allow me to make an assumption....you are a new brewer as you said. My assumption is you will bottle your treasured home brew. Follow the advice above. When ready to serve your beer from the bottle chill it as you like but standing up. Removing it carefully from the fridge...

    Steam Slayer on lid

I would have the same issue. I do believe the physics of the operation ensure the angle. Now maybe somebody could place a solid, “false bottom” in the condenser tube and make the tube appear straight.

    New to Homebrew!!

Don't dump the beer. Get more carboys. Looks to me like you have the research skills and the capacity to problem solve. Now, all you need is more brewing time.

    Another mediocre beer...getting frustrated

What Joe says is so true and well articulated. I had just welcomed a new member of HBT with the following advice. I think it ties in well with Joeywhat's train of thought. I wrote, "There are a few different approaches offered to new brewers as they begin to learn. Mine is to begin brewing ales...

    New to Homebrew!!

Welcome to the community of brewing. Your enthusiasm is appreciated. I do not brew lagers so may not be able to advise. If you followed standard brewing practices with sanitation and you followed the directions fairly well you will have beer. Good beer. There are a few different approaches...

    Help with brewery name please

Vance Creek Brewery relocated to Barron County, WI. in 2011. That iteration came from Menomonie, WI. There it had been established as the, “Yellowstone Road brewery” in 2007.

Using yeast cake instead of packets

You give me an idea. I brew a series of House Brews. I like to replicate and standardize my styles. I will consider brewing separate batches of the same style in series. Using different yeast handling processes and then comparing may be of interest.

Using yeast cake instead of packets

Using my conical I will dump grub before fermentation completes. Waiting a few days I will then send some grub to my sight glass. I then determine if it looks white and creamy. If not to what I believe is good enough I may dump it. Or, I may save it to a sanitized jar and set it aside...

    Temperature Control - Next steps

As a, “new” brewer with twenty batches I would say you know what you are doing. And for me temp control was my biggest step forward. Converting an old friend is a grand adventure. I would add though... I sense with the number of brews and the depth of your interest in moving forward that you...

Where to sell? I have a ton of great stuff

Craigslist works. I have run into brewing gear not being acceptable on Facebook Marketplace due to alcohol related content. Check out the sites of any brew clubs in your neighborhood.
