    Sulphur from slanted yeast

Hi I have been buying yeast slants from brewlabs, a british company. Each one i have used has left the same sulphurous flavour in the beer. I bottled one and it got worse and worse so I thought my sanitation wasn't up to speed. So for the next one i used a pressure cooker to sterilise all wort...

Help! I think I've broken my regulator

Golddiggie I think you where right after all. Got my neighbour who is a mechanic to have a look. After taking a few bits off and playing around with it a bit he turned the screw and it seemed to be working again. But the odd thing is I've just gone out to check it and get a beer and when...

Help! I think I've broken my regulator

there is a nut, you are right, but i'm pretty sure that the problem isn't this. The screw is in quite far.

Help! I think I've broken my regulator

I have gone as far as taking off the gas line and slowly turning the valve(little red lever) to see if anything comes out. Nothing. I did try the pressure relief as well but not sure if I did it with the gas on.

Help! I think I've broken my regulator

I mean the low pressure gauge ( does that make sense?) the one that tells you what psi your beer is at. I'm sure I have gas in my bottle as I took the reg off and reconnected it and the gauge giving the tank psi when right back up to 500. definitely something going on in the regulator.

Help! I think I've broken my regulator

Familiar story I think. First time kegging, tried to force carb. Didn't realise I needed to purge keg before lowering psi to serving pressure. Couldn't understand why the pressure wouldn't go down so I just kept lowering that dail. to round things off i went and gave it a shake with the...

SS braid for hop strainer+a little bit of rubber

It's not my vid if that is what you mean. I just want to use the same thing as a hop filter in my kettle.

SS braid for hop strainer+a little bit of rubber

ah I see what you mean. I should have said. I haven't used a reducer as the nut on the end of the braid ( the end i didn't cut off) screws right onto my tap. I'm assuming it is all SS.

SS braid for hop strainer+a little bit of rubber

Why do you say there are steel parts? i thought it was stainless.

SS braid for hop strainer+a little bit of rubber

I will use whole leaf hops. But I was more worried about the small amount of rubber hose left leaching off flavours into the beer.

SS braid for hop strainer+a little bit of rubber

can i use this as a hop strainer? A little bit of rubber is left at the end that screws onto the tap. Will this cause off flavours?

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

So what is the verdict? run the water full so it is cold as soon as possible? or try and decrease as I go?

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

The water was ofcourse hot when it first came out but it soon cooled down.

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

I managed to pull the chiller until it was a quite spaced out and ran the water faster. I managed to get it to about 22c in 45mins which is an improvement. I was surprised how cold the water came out even at the beginning. I might try to run the water fast enough so it comes out cold. So fast at...

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

I'll try running the faster. Don't tell my SWMBO. I'll also try and swirl the chiller round with the lid on. Might brew tonight so i'll see what happens.

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

I would worry about sanitation taking the lid off and stirring. Especially as I brew out side, isn't this a problem?

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

I have been trying to keep it fairly slow going through, hoping not to waste too much water. normally after about 20mins it starts coming out the other end cold until i stir it. i figured more water wouldn't equal more cooling. But maybe its time to try a faster flow rate.

Is my chiller coiled too tight?

I try to swirl the chiller round once every 5 mins or so
