    Recipe for WLP041

I needed to get some yeast the other day, and wanted to try something I hadn't used before. After some discussion with the lhbs guys, I settled on WLP041 Pacific Ale Yeast. I searched on here for some recipes and critiques on the strain, but didn't find too much. What style should I make...

    SWMBO says....

My wife was/is the exact same. She would tell me I drink too much and I need to cut back or stop. She also did the same with brewing. I never fought about it, we never had some big conversation, I just kept on drinking my 1 or 2 a night and kept brewing. I just try to not rub it in her face...

    Next beer for 3787

I did a Tripel and it came out really good. Took it from 1.086 to 1.008. A little fruity at first, but after a few months in the bottle, the fruit is settling out and it is becoming nice and spicy. I think it was a great choice for the style.

    I love my fermentation chiller!!

A few weeks ago I brewed up A batch of EdWort's Haus Pale Ale. Fermentation got too hot (80'ish) ... I couldn't get the temps under control. I ended up with a fruity ale. I will let it age for awhile and see what time does. So I figured time to get some control over my fermentation temps and...

    Blueberry Wheat critique

OK, one last question on this .... I hope. The second ferment of the fruit is done. The color is pretty awesome, but the flavor/aroma is kind of weak. I would still like this for saturday. Would you dose with more blueberries to get some more flavor quick, or will 3 more days really make...

    Blueberry Wheat critique

Yeah, I know how to force carb, I was more concerned about it being too green, and not having enough time on the blueberries, I would only get 4 days or so on the fruit.

    Blueberry Wheat critique

I brewed this about 2 weeks ago, and am going to transfer to secondary w/ blueberries tonight (6/28). If I keg and force carb this on Friday, do you think it will be reasonably drinkable by the 4th (Sat) ??

    Sulfur smell and fruit

Right now I have a hefe finishing up primary fermentation. It had a relatively strong sulfur smell the first day, it has now subsided but it is still there. I plan on adding blueberries to this in secondary. How long should I wait to rack to secondary and add the fruit? Should I wait until...

Is 69.99 a decent deal for a turkey fryer?

I have that setup, works fine for full boils, but use some fermcap. I actually think its a 32 qt pot. I would advise going to home depot and take a look first. I knwo around here they are selling a similar setup for $39.

    Beer aging

I just stumbled upon a stash on SN Bigfoot ale 2010. I picked up a six pack .... awesome. I want to age it for this coming winter. I bought it cold, and put it in the fridge ... should I leave it cold, or put it in the cellar to age? I know the temp differential isn't too bad, and going from...

    Blueberry Wheat critique

I'd like to do a blueberry wheat ... but I have never done a fruit beer before. I could use some feedback on tis recipe: Blueberry Wheat 5 lbs Maris Otter 4 lbs Wheat malt .5 lb carapils hops 1 oz Willamette 5.5% 60 min Yeast: WLP320 As for the blue berries, I'm not sure...

Help! Preboil gravity before or after sugar?

Not sure if this is the way to go or not. But I took it before, then adjusted my recipe to cut out the sugar. That way I could figure out my efficiency with just my grains, no sugar.

Blow off tube on a bucket

I use either a 3/8 in hose through the grommet in the lid, or just a 1/2 in hose right in to the lid. The 1/2 in gets clogged much less. I just did a triple with the 3/8 and had to clean out the blowoff every hour or so for the first 2 days.

    Low Country Boil Recipe needed.

I do pretty much the same, but in addition to the old bay, I usually add some zatarain's liquid shrimp and crap boil extract ... about half a bottle or so does it.

    Wyeast 3787

I ended up making a tripel instead of the Saison. Og was 1.086 after 3 days its at 1.028, its still going strong, so I imaging it's lower than that now. Started at 68 F and ramped up to 74 now. I also pitched a 2L starter. Maybe I have low standards, but I think 1.086 to 1.028 in 2 days is...

    Trippel recipe ctitique

Grain bill has changed some on this. I am going with all MO, because I didn't have time to get to the lhbs to get the pilsener. I still have a few questions about this: Just out of curiosity, how long should this age? I know bigger beers need more time, but this is pretty simple, not a very...

How does this Pale Ale look?

Yeah, agreed. It kinda walks the line between an Amber an Pale. It's either a malt forward Pale, or a hoppy Amber ..... either way, it's good.

    Trippel recipe ctitique

My wife and I are expecting our second child in July/August. She is not a beer drinker, but does like some Belgians. I have wanted to brew a belgian for awhile, and I think this is the perfect opportunity. I have been toying with a few recipes, and styles, but am having a hard time deciding...
