    Oktoberfest/Marzen ale recipe

I decided to brew BM's OktoberFAST ale. I know its late, but I just want it for the cold months, not necessarily October. So I went to the lhbs to get the ingredients I needed for this. All I needed was yeast and Aromatic malt. The guy I talked to talked me out of a lb of aromatic saying it...

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

Went to the lhbs to get the ingredients I needed for this. All I needed was yeast and Aromatic malt. The guy I talked to talked me out of a lb of aromatic saying it was way to much for 5 gal, and talked me in to trying the Kolsch yeast. He also said that I should use Melanoiden in an...

The other hobby I do that people think is odd... straight razors

I love my Dovo. I rarely get any razor burn anymore, and if I do, I know it's time to hone a bit. I actually enjoy shaving now. It's a whole different experience, zen like as stated before. I start to relax the first draw across the leather. I don't think I'll ever go back to canned cream...

Can you Brew It recipe for Terrapin Rye Pale Ale

I brewed something very similar to this. Used columbus instead of Magnum and Willamette instead of Fuggles and EKG. I emailed spike awhile back and got the recipe. The hops are a bit different from what your recipe is but very similar. Sub Warrior for Magnum, and 2 oz of Amarillo per 5g for...

    Cider fermentation

I made a batch of cider the other day. 5 gallons of apple juice/cider, a lb of turbinado and about a half lb of honey. I pitched some notty (the "bad" lot). Fermentation took off in a few hours. It has been chugging along at 66 for 4 days now. Gravity is down from 1.059 to 1.026 last time I...

What is the "worst" beer you like? Your guilty pleasure, if you will...

They work. There are a couple threads about them around here. The miller one works as well. Apparently tap a draft has a contract with coors/miller (I could be wrong about that though) check this out: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/coors-disposable-keg-party-pig-127302/

Ideas on Belgian Golden Strong Ale

I did something very similar to this, using the same yeast strain. 11.5 lbs MO 2 lbs sugar (cane/beet) 1.5 oz Willamette (45 min) 1 oz Hallertauer (15 min) My OG was 1.086 and my FG was 1.008. I started fermentation low (around 68 then over 3 weeks let it climb up to about 85) Keep that in...

    Whats you favorite album cover

This one always impressed me. The picture doesn't do it justice. The cover is made up layered images. The book is made up of clear pages that ultimately make up the front cover .... really neat idea.

    flat beer after first pour

I used to get a foamy first pour, but my second was good. Sounds like you just under carbed it. I fixed my foamy first pour by adding 10 ft lines. Perfect pour every time now.

    Bottled vs Kegged Tripel

So I brewed a basic tripel a few months back, kegged half and bottled half in flip top bottles. I did both at the same time. The kegged batch I primed with corn sugar, the bottles I used coopers carb drops. I have drank a few bottles and it is really good. Started out a little cidery form...

    Testing hop flavors

I am looking in to purchasing a lb of hops. I was looking in to EKG and Fuggles, but couldn't decide between the two, because I had nothing to compare the flavors of each to. I ended up buying 1 ounce of each. My idea is to brew 2 small batches. Probably a mild, bitter with an american hop...

    American Brown Ale recipe critique

How do you think this same grain bill would work with some traditional English hops (Fuggles/Kent Goldings), and a dry english yeast (1098). I'd like to make a good nut brown, would this grain bill work well for that??

    New high/low ???

The "low" was the fact that I was brewing, while she was having contractions. But still no baby this morning, just prelabor contractions. That is good advice about still working on brewing, without spending the extended time needed to actually brew ... such as reading and upgrades and such.

    New high/low ???
