    My 10 gal pot that I got used came with a port at the top and an over the rim set up. When I mash I use the over the rim set-up. when I boil, I move it to the top port to whirlpool. So if that works for you, get the top port ant the the over the rim setup

    Help with Sugar free root beer

    The first batch turned out ok, not great. The 2nd batch I use Big H, Homestyle Root Beer extract No.1. I use 8 cups Splenda and 1 cup maltodextrin and enough water to make 5 gals. This one came out really good and better mouth feel. Might bump up the maltodextrin to 1.5 cups next time

    How much is too much?

    I average a 1-1.5 pints a day during the work days- some days 2 beers, next day none. A bit of this is tasting new brews I am making or checking my taps to see how the kegs are doing. Them maybe a can/ bottle of something new I picked up Weekends maybe 5-8 if hanging around home. More if friends...

    Siphoning into a closed keg - when to stop?

    Attach a cobra tap to the out post with a foot or 2 of clear line, tilt keg with blocks, start the fill, open cobra tap. Watch the clear line as it gets close to full. When you see it start to go fill line, close cobra. That will stop flow into keg. Disconnect fill line, remove blocks...

    Adding orange tincture to keg

    I normal just take a small homemade hop bag and pour pulp in it and the everything goes in keg tied off with dental floss. That way it keeps on giving flavor. My Orange cream ale gets four large blood oranges- juice, pulp and zest in 2 oz vodka
