    Potential revolutionary failure...

You mean to say that I am not the visionary I thought I was? Balls. Not sure why it would give a grassy flavor though, is it because of all the concentrated hop oils in a small container? That is the only reason I can think of it not being just like dry hoping.

    Potential revolutionary failure...

I have a RyePA fermenting away right now, and I was thinking, 'What can I do to make this different?' I still have to dry hop it in the secondary, but I was wondering what the brewing world thought of bottle conditioning with a hop flower in the bottle? I wouldn't do it with all of the...

    Yeast rehydrated, but......

It doesnt expire for a while, it was stored sealed in my fridge before rehydrating, not sure on the temperature, definately warme-mildly hot, which is the same temp I have always used. It was definately a creamy beige color....I did put a little sugar in, just to get it into the booze making...

    Yeast rehydrated, but......

I guess my terminology is a bit off, but normally there is a nice head of foam on top of the liquid.... not so much this time. I am using a different yeast than normal -safeale 05-.... maybe that's why..?

    Yeast rehydrated, but......

BTW, I have my wort on the stove, boling.....I am relaxing, not worrying, AND having a home brew.... but I might need more homebrew to keep the worry away.

    Yeast rehydrated, but......

There doesnt seem to be any work being done by my yeast. I rehydrated it over an hour ago and there is no krausen on it. Normaly by this time I have a few inches on top of the liquid, but now I barely have 1/4 inch.....Should I be concerned?

    Twist off bottles

Hoppy: Beggers can't be choosers. It's not like she surprised me with natty light, So I can't complain too much. Msehelr: I have a bunch of pry offs, but I didn't want to let these poor bottles go to waste. I would hate to see their lives cut short.... Thanks for the response guys, I guess...

    Twist off bottles

My wife bought me some Leinenkugels, unfortunately the caps are teist off, so they are conventionally unuseable. But I got to thinking, why not? The bottle walls are a bit thinner than pry off bottles, but I don't generally overcarbonate (I usually end up under carbed for some reason. Still...

    Adding cherries to beer

Whatever you decide put the cherries in a bag before they go into the beer. It seems like common sense, but if you forget it you will have a hell of a time getting the chunks out of the bottling bucket. I gave up fishing the chunks of raspberries out of my dunkel last night. Good luck.

    Cilantro Lime Wheat Beer

I thought bacteria couldn't survive the acidity and booze content in beer. Fair point on the cilantro breaking into gross chunks of goo, I didnt think of that.

    Cilantro Lime Wheat Beer

What if you bottle conditioned with a sprig of cilantro? I would think that the volatiles in cilantro wouldn't go anywhere while it was in the bottle, it might add a nice nose to it, but then again it might wreck head retention...

anyone ever make their own plastic conical?

To take hezagenius' idea a step further, an o-ring and a few bolts around the periphery of the funnel/bucket interface might keep the seal a bit better than silicone

    Orange juice additions/Hef recipe advice

I read somewhere (I think it was a reply to my bad apple cider thread) that the acidity was what doomed my cider to live its life tasting like a spiced orange juice.

    partial mash equipment

Awesome, thanks. I already have a cooler and some copper set up for my outlet and sparge arm, so you can call me impatient. ;-) If I use the oven method should I preheat it to 150 and leave it there? Because that was my plan. Side note, I decided against building an IC, so I bought a...

    Orange juice additions/Hef recipe advice

I had a superbly bad experience with orange juice in a cider, it didnt turn out well at all. I say go for it, but cautiously. maybe use the juice from 1 or 2 of them. The zest should be fine though.

    partial mash equipment

That is alot of fittings, and even more sweating of pipes. The first sweating I did looks like a kindergartner with 2 left hands and no thumbs was sweating the pipes... Not pretty One of my friends said that the wall thickness on strait pipe is thicker than the wall thickness of the tubing...
