13 hop QIPA (AKA Plinyfish Heady 120)

I meant to ask how you were taking gravity readings. Hydrometer in vessel or returning samples? Did you purge the headspace with co2 after or trust that the new activity would take care of it, or maybe just not worry because a blanket of co2 was already there? Just curious for my own future...

    A Career in Brewing?

casesensative, can I ask if you had any prior experience or education in (large scale) brewing before taking this position, or are these two months sort of an internship to show you the ropes?

    A Career in Brewing?

Check out the "Going Pro" forum on the American Homebrewers Association website. http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?board=190.0 It's a dedicated forum so you should find more concentrated information in one place. There are a number of people there asking the same...

    Mostly a fermentation question. R.I.S

What about cold crashing and then carbing in a keg before bottling? It would require adding a new piece of equipment to your collection (beer gun or counter pressure filler) but it might help you meet your goal and free the keg back up quickly for another brew.

Looking For Motivation To Start Again..

I couldn't do that even if I wanted to. There's too much good beer out there to choke down something I don't care much for, let alone something I don't find at all palatable. I've seen a lot of folks online say you should never dump a beer, but life's too short to do things that don't make you...

    newb fried his yeast...

I'm still new to this and always trying to glean as much information from other people's experiences as possible, so I'm wondering what is your definition of a big beer? I'm making a 1.087 this weekend that mrmalty.com says requires 1.6 11 gram packs of dry yeast. The yeast that I'm using...

1st ever batch is aweful :(

m3n00b, what gravity are the beers that you make without aerating? I'm a newb and just asking for a better understanding of opposing opinions. From all the reading I've done, it seems that plenty of people agree that a lower gravity beer might be fine without, but a double or imperial IPA like...

    Fermentation in closet ?

If it's just a storage closet I wouldn't worry about it. If it were my clothes closet, I'd be concerned about my coworkers speculating about how much I drink and how little I shower.

    oxygen canisters from home depot

From Amazon I ordered a .5 micron stone posted on homebrewfinds.com. With my Prime membership it was less than 6 bucks shipped and arrived in two days. For the regulator, I went with the all brass number sold at Adventures in Homebrewing for $29.99. It seemed pretty heavy duty so I spent...

wonder what all the poor people are doing

I don't know what all the poor people are doing, but I have a sneaking suspicion that you are binge drinking. :D
