Where to place my tap and attach drip tray

I think you are on the right track. You might also think about building or finding a stand for the fridge to raise it up a bit. Unless you are a VERY short person having to bend over to get a brew is going to be tough on your back. I'm not sure why you would want to move the hinges to the left...

What equipment to buy? Need 2nd opinion

Have you given any thought to the GrainFather system? I got mine a few weeks ago and from all the posts I've seen on the system it's one I would recommend. I stated it that way because even though I got mine a few weeks ago a work related injury has put my brewing on hold for a while (hard to...

    Hops/Malt store?

Thanks again. No, not looking to stockpile, just looking for somewhere at least as cheap (preferably cheaper) than my local that will deliver. I live way out in the boonies and it's a bit of a drive (35 miles) to get to the brew shop.

    Hops/Malt store?

Thanks for all the suggestions. It looks like my local shop is the best for me for DME but if anyone is interested "www.Hopsdirect.com" sells hops quite cheaply. 1 pound of pellets for $9.15. Even with shipping that is around half what I pay locally.

    Hops/Malt store?

First, my apologies if this question has been asked. I did a search and couldn't find another relevant post. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good place to buy hops and/or malt extract (dry)? I do like checking out my local homebrew shop but they don't always have what I am looking for and...

    Cooling your wort with ice

Thanks for the responses. I've got some ice trays (large cubes) on order so I can freeze my own properly sterilized (boiled) water but until then I am just using commercial. It's good to know that the commercial ice makers are using fairly good sanitation procedures.

Stone 15th Anniversary Escondidian Imperial Black IPA clone

In case anyone is interested in a partial mash recipe, my latest batch is about as close to the 15th as I remember (we can't get any more here in AZ so I'm relying on my not-so-good memory). But it's REAL good. Very malty and hoppy and VERY black. Here is what I used the last time...

    Cooling your wort with ice

I realize this may not be the proper area for this discussion but I couldn't find a more appropriate area for it. I have, for the last several brews, used ice to cool my wort. And by that I don't mean an ice bath. I use approximately 12 pounds of ice to cool 3 gallons of wort (12 pounds is...

    Greetings from Vail, AZ

Update: Kind of strange replying to yourself but what the heck. My first batch is in the secondary (and tastes great so far!!) and I've started my second (a Schwarzbier clone) and Im using the afformentioned electric fryer to steep my grains. I checked the temperature over about 30 minutes and...

    Greetings from Vail, AZ

I'm not new to brewing although it has been over 15 years since my last attempt. But when our IRS refund came in this year I thought I'd get back into it. So, after spending LOTS of money on new stuff (brewing kit, Corny Keg, kegerator, dual faucet tower, etc.) I'm waiting for my first batch...

    Straining the wort

Sorry, I see now that the question of straining the wort has already been asked and answered.
