    Austin area brewers

Hey Zach, I wouldn't say we are more experienced brewers we are about to start all grain batches soon too. We've done more than a handful of mini mash batches and we are in the Buda area. We should be doing our first all grain batch Saturday Oct 12; if you have nothing going on that day you're...

    Honey in secondary

I'm going to be brewing a blonde ale here in the near future and I wanted to add honey into the secondary so that I could get a sweet finish and not have a high alcohol volume. Is there any particular way I should go about doing this; maybe boiling it in water before adding it in? How much...

    Hoppy beers a trend?

+1 I like most styles of beer but I have to say that the IPA and IIPA are my favorite styles. I'm looking forward to when Russian River starts distributing to Texas.

    Visiting Austin This Weekend!

You should go to Thirsty Planet, Hops and Grain, and Rogness. They only charge an initial fee then fill your glass multiple times. Austin Beer Works is open on Fridays and those are the only places I've been to.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

A little off topic, it isn't so funny as much as frustrating. I was at a place in Austin called Red's Porch and I was trying to ask what seasonals they had on tap then the waiter cut me off mid sentence and asked "Light, Dark, or hoppy?" I was a bit frustrated by this because he completely...

Wee Heavy The Claymore - Epic Wee Heavy

When you said you used 4lbs of smoked malt what kind did you use exactly? I'm on my homebrew supplies website and they consider smoked malt to be rauch malt. Since you already used 2 lbs of rauch malt for this recipe I'm assuming you are talking about something else. Sorry I'm still new to brewing.
