    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

Short and sweet. Good call. What's your recipe for cold brewing for a 5 gallon batch?

    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

I guess my question is: don't the grounds have the oils just as the beans do? In either method, you're not using hot water to extract flavor from the grounds/beans.

    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

The way I read his explanation was that dry beaning would introduce oils but cold brew would not. Is there not oils still in the grounds once beans are grounded? They way I see it (which could be totally wrong ;)) is that dry beaning would be the same as cold brewing, but you're just using...

    Adding Coffee to Beer

I'd like to resurrect this old thread. Do you have any head retention issues when dry beaning as described in this thread? Also, do you have any problems with bitterness?

    Cold Brew vs "dry beaning"

Thanks for the detailed description. From what I've tasted so far, it's going to be a pretty sweet stout, so it may not hurt to have a little bitterness. This is the first time I've used coffee in a brew, so I'm really debating on what method to use. Do you have any problem with head...

    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

Also, what would be the grounds to water ratio for a 5 gallon batch? Also, would it hurt to use beer from your secondary as the medium for the cold brew?

    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

Ok, so the oils comes from the beans and not from the grounds? Can you feed my curiosity and explain how that works?

    Cold Brew vs "dry beaning"

Whatcha mean by bland? So do you recommend dry beaning? And what do you mean by beans pulled?

    Cold Brew vs "dry beaning"

I was thinking 5 oz. Beans cold brewed in 16 oz water (or maybe just pull 16 oz of beer out of my finished beer in secondary and use it as the "water" for cold Brew) .

    Cold Brew vs "dry beaning"

One question I have with cold Brew is the coffee to water ratio for a 5 gallon batch?

    Cold Brew vs "dry beaning"

I'm kegging my chocolate milk stout this weekend and want to add some coffee flavor to it. I've read about cold brewing and I've read about dry hopping (dry beaning???) with crushed coffee beans in a muslin bag. What's everyone's experience? To me, these two methods seem fairly similar, since...

    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

In regards to a comment made earlier in the thread, how is cold brewing coffee any different than "dry hopping" with crushed coffee beans? If you pour all of the cold Brew coffee into the beer, is t the oil still getting in it? The way I see it, isn't "dry hopping" with crushed beans the...

    DIY 2 tap tower

Wish I could find that build on the forum again with 3 taos on a stock tower. I opened mine up and I'm not sure 2 will fit! Anyone have any tips?

    DIY 2 tap tower

I have also seen the collar style tap extenders that stagger a second tap at a different height, but have only seen them for 3" towers, not 2.5"

    DIY 2 tap tower

That is exactly what I was looking at. I've been doing some forum researching and there is a guy on here who fit 3 taps in a 2.5" tower, all side by side! Now, with that being said, it looked very crowded. I'm confident i can fit 2 on the same elevation with a 45° offset - with the 90° shank.

    DIY 2 tap tower

Has anyone used a kit similar to this: http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/hoses/beertubing/TOWER-REBUILD-KIT.shtml to modify their stock single tower to a 2 tap tower? This is much more in my budget than the $120-$150 to purchase a whole new tower and taps.

    Are all starters created equally?

Nice and simple mikescooling. That seems like a good starting place that one can modify as they see fit. Thanks!
