    Corn sugar question

Good read on the attachments. When you replace dme or lme with white sugar, don't you lose some malt characteristics?

    Corn sugar question

Awesome! Thanks. Have much trouble with beers "drying out?" . There is so much negative out there about this, but I think a lot of it is from what people have heard/read, and not from actual experience. I'm sure it can be done, but probably takes much more than a pound of sugar. Thoughts?

    Corn sugar question

Did you use corn sugar to up the abv.?

    Corn sugar question

What I don't want to do is add a bunch of maltiness. Maybe half and half??? Anyone else have any experience in doing this?

What about adding light or Xtra light DME to do the same?

    Corn sugar question

I'm trying to put my own spin on some extract kits and I want to begin by upping the abv a little. I have a dead ringer kit and a zombie dust clone kit. I'm thinking about adding a pound of corn sugar to the boil to do so. I've read about drying out the beer by adding too much. Should I be as...

    Dry yeast pitching

I'm not worried about them working, this is a tried and true yeast.

    Dry yeast pitching

Actually, after looking at their website, they say to rehydrate at 80* +/-6*F

    Dry yeast pitching

I've heard to rehydrate from 95-105, sound right? At first, I thought that was high. But the more I read, that seems more and more commonplace

    Dry yeast pitching

I'm brewing the zombie dust clone from NB and adding 1# of corn sugar to up the ABV a little. I'm also using safale US-05, which I have just a little familiarity with. I usually use liquid with a starter, but I'm running short on time. I'm guessing with the corn sugar addition, my OG is going...

    Adding Coffee to Beer

But I bet it tastes amazing! I don't think there is any way to add coffee to a beer and not get the oils along with it. If there is a way, I'd love to know!

    Line size question

One more questuon: why is the norm to use 1/4" for gas and 3/16" for beer? Wouldn't it be easier to use 3/16" all around?

    Line size question

So, I have a new dual body regulator coming tomorrow since my old regulator was giving me fits. I just realized the new one has 5/16" barbs, but I don't have enough 1/4" ID hose for both valves. I plan to use one side for serving, and the other to carbonate the beer "on deck." will it hurt...

    Peace Stout Kit: Coffee Stout

I think I'm going to dry beaning in the secondary for 2 days with 5 oz of cracked/crushed Sumatra blend beans. 1. Because I already have a hop bag and whole beans, and 2. I want to brew again and do the cold brew method and compare the two. Wish me luck!

Short and sweet. Good call. What's your recipe for cold brewing for a 5 gallon batch?
