    How to properly use StarSan?

The surface you want to sanitize needs to be clean first then wetted with starsan for 1 minute. 1 cup in a carboy swished around a couple times is enough.

    How to properly use StarSan?

Mix it w/ RO water, I make 5 gal at a time and keep in PET carboy the unused portion never clouds at least not within 12 months or so. I don't pour used solution back into carboy but store in 5 gal bucket that will cloud over time but it takes quite a while after multiple uses.

    Washing a Carboy?

I enjoy looking at it...no need to concern yourself about it.

    Washing a Carboy?

I use glass like to see what's going on during fermentation. Regarding cleaning, get a pond pump from Amazon (mine is 13 GPM ) and put it in a 5 gal bucket , cut a 6" hole in the lid and connect a 20" long 1/2" pvc pipe from pump and drill a pipe cap for a spray head Drill several small holes...

Need advice on how to stop Ginger Beer fermentation

Why cant you pasteurize after carbonation? I read a thread on making Malzbier and that's exactly what they did. A few days after bottling the author opened a beer a day and when carbonation was adequate he pasteurized in a 140f (or so) water bath.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Look at what you did differently, you named one thing but there must be something else (different hop batch?). I have never heard of clarity ferm. I have made that recipe 4 times and it came out the same every time other that a little difference in mouth feel. Never used SO4 on that brew, but...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I don't agree with this at all. If you put 1 psi on the regulator and cold crash 1 psi will continue to be present in the void above the beer as the temp decreases assuming the regulator is working properly. I frequently use a plastic bag about 1 cu ft volume inflated with CO2 and it is not...

Anyone else overwelmed by the amount of hops in IPAs and NEIPAs?

Don't see the OPs complaint at all.

    Co2 Newbie

Get a regulator with both Hi and Lo pressure gauges. Check for leaks with soapy water spray or starsan. You should always have a spray bottle of starsan on hand anyway.

    Primary fermentation

During active fermentation you won't get little bubbles like your picture shows, you will get a burp as the co2 lifts the bell off the stem in the airlock. If you watch it it will lift at an angle and the gas will escape under the high side and immediately rise to the surface. If you suspect the...
