    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

Thanks for clearing that up. Here is the dilemma I keep running into. I fairly new to all grain, and my water supply here in DFW fluctuates pretty regularly with the exception of the PH (seems to be pretty regularly in the 8.1 range). The ions in my water authority's report don't balance out...

    Double Dog Dare Ya!

Like strychnine apparently. Note to self, don't leave wheat beers in fermenter for 8 years and then drink.

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

So let me see if I'm reading this right, for a pale ale, I would A) add 2 tsp of CaCl, and 1 tsp of gypsum, and 2% sauermalz? Or B) 1 tsp CaCl, 1 tsp gypsum, and 2% sauermalz?

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Just picked up the OP grain bill, hops, and us05 for this brew. Now to find a weekend to do a double brew. I have a raspberry wheat I need to brew as well. I must have lost my mind....

    Festbier BierMuncher's OktoberFAST Ale (AG)

Brewed this in September 2016 for my 1st all grain. I have 9 bottles left. Not bad, I added too much crystal, pretty malty and sweet. What I learned: stay below the 10% mark with crystal malt.

    Foaming problems

Yep, sounds like infection. I had the same thing happen to 3 batches. Don't rinse the starsan and get new plastic.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I made my first batch today. I was shooting for 6 gallons, but the crotchety lady on the scooter behind me looked like she would run me over to get to her prune juice, thereby causing me to be short one bottle. Oh well, 2.5 lbs of corn sugar and 4.5 gallons of apple juice should result in +/-...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

For my second All grain, brewed up a pre-prohibition porter yesterday. Missed my strike temp, stuck sparge, ended up adding more water for each, finally ended up 1.25 gallons thinner than I wanted. Eh, it's beer and yeasties are chugging away, should be well conditioned by St. Paddy's day/my...

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

Thanks mabrungard, that makes complete sense. so if I go that route, I'm looking at about 55% dilution with RO to get my concentrations to where the profile is reasonably close. I'm not going completely that direction, just want to be in the ballpark.

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

So how are you planning to use this Primer? That is a good question, I just want to get my PH where it needs to be to improve my all grain brewing. my target is Dusseldorf since there were probably a few Hefe's brewed there, and the profile listed is pretty close to mine as is. You can see my...

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

I'm using a 15 gallon kettle and 15 gallon mash tun with manifold, batch sparge. I'm actually not in NOLA, north Dallas. This is going to be my 3rd batch on the current setup with all grain. I think I need to tinker with Bru'n water a little bit, because that did seem like a little less water...

    A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer

ok peeps, got my water analysis back, brun water downloaded, and I'm confused as I can be. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Here is my water profile and grain bill for my upcoming American wheat. Starting Profile ppm Ca 46 Mg 4 Na 31 SO4 81 Cl 27 HCO3 105 PH...
