    Dip tube

I used 1/2" copper tubing and a 1/2" NPT Compression fitting...fits right into the weld-less valves from BF. I don't like the idea of soldering the NPT on there b/c you have to get it screwed in dead-nuts for it to angle perfectly to the bottom, no???

    Fermenting in Poland Springs bottles

I think if I did use one, I would treat it just like a regular carboy / better bottle...and use a stopper & airlock rather than the cap that comes on it.

    Fermenting in Poland Springs bottles

Ok, I feel like this is a stupid questions that's opening myself up for a lambasting...but let me add my disclaimer now, I'm not "planning" on doing this, just wondering if it's a good/bad idea. Can you ferment in a Poland Spring type water bottle?? What are the pros/cons of it??

First AG batch due up this weekend!!

Yeah, that's what we'll use this weekend, is just a regular thermometer to periodically check. I'd eventually like to install one right above the drain valve, though. Just looks and feels better I guess.

    DIY CO2 manifold. Good idea?

I thought so...so theoretically, I don't NEED the shut-offs w/ the check valve in them, but for the extra couple bucks, I may even grab them just in case I ever DO have a corny on there. Thanks...

First AG batch due up this weekend!!

Just got my FB in the other day, and had my buddy, who owns the LHBS, order my supplies. Don't have a thermometer or sight glass installed in either the MT or BK yet, but I think I'll get by. Have 2 keggles that I'll be using...just going to do a 5gal batch to start things off...then once I...

    DIY CO2 manifold. Good idea?

I do too...isn't there a check valve in the coupler itself?? I thought so...

supposedly, except that they're not in stock, and for the extra couple bucks, Northern had them in stock w/ the same shipping.

Bar;ey Crusher! Barley Crusher! Barley Crusher!

Yeah, we just ordered one...from Norther Brewer...wasn't much more than direct. Friend of mine owns a liquor store and sells Homebrew Supplies, so it's going to pretty much pay for itself.

    How much fruit?

I just brewed a 5gal batch of wheat last Friday and it's in primary right now w/ 3# of mixed berries. I did this in primary b/c the last time we did a strawberry that's what we did and it came out awesome, not overpowering at all. Had to change the airlock TWICE, then just added a blow-off...

Cool, I'm actually right in East Taunton...I'll keep that in mind. We have 4-5 guys around me that like to brew also, just been fighting w/ the family plans to get together the past few weeks.

Hey everyone, I'm fairly new to the Homebrew world...and have been reading many posts on here for a couple months, but figured I'd add a line here to make the intro.
