    Water for NE IPA

Hi all, Just wanted to confirm that my water will suffice for a general NE IPA profile. I typically aim for 50-70 Ca, 50+ Na, 100/200 Sulfate to Chloride (and vice versa). I plugged it into Bru'n Water, and I think it works, it just may be hard to hit higher Sulfate levels without increasing Ca...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Aeronaut turns out some tasty stuff, but I've seen some bad oxidation with another one of their beers before - King Louie. It was a drain pour at $18/4 pack. Can't believe they tried to play it off this way.

Disposal of 1% Hcl Acid Solution

Awesome, thanks for the replies. Better safe than sorry.

Disposal of 1% Hcl Acid Solution

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I purchased some Hach cleanser for my Pocket Pro Plus ph meter, and found that it is has pepsin plus 1% hydrochloric acid. Am I correct that the small amount I use to clean my probe is ok to pour down the drain, followed by a lot of water? Thanks

Noob Help Needed - Converting Dryer Outlet

So, just to close the loop on this saga...I had the electrician install a new outlet off my dryer outlet for the Auber...but he read the description of the Auber and installed an L14-30 receptacle because he thought that was what was needed. Seems that is not the case. Think I can source a plug...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Yes, I have seen this recently with a can or two. Believe it was Doppel or Alter Ego. Other beers I purchased that were canned at same time showed no similar signs.

How to keep Trub out of the fermenter

Ha, usually its 11pm and I just want the brewday to be over. I'm ok dumping the trub from the fermenter at 12 and 24 hours post brew, just thought this may help reduce the pain.

How to keep Trub out of the fermenter

Sweet, that would be a big improvement over my previous practices.

How to keep Trub out of the fermenter

Sorry, I should clarified that I would pull the bag before oxygenating the wort and pitching the yeast.

How to keep Trub out of the fermenter

So for my next brewday, I was planning on placing a clean Wilser brew bag (I BIAB in a cooler) inside my conical, and transferring the wort onto it. Then, pull up the brew bag and remove it to capture the trub. Unless the trub would be too fine to be captured by the bag?

Noob Help Needed - Converting Dryer Outlet

Good point about the amperage. Appears the Cube pulls 30 amp.

Noob Help Needed - Converting Dryer Outlet

Thanks, the lack of ground was my concern based on previous reading about running a pump through the controller. Believe I need to have it to avoid tripping the GFCI, if I understood correctly.

Noob Help Needed - Converting Dryer Outlet

I've got an older, 3 prong dryer outlet that I'd like to upgrade to a 4 prong, GFCI outlet which I can plug an Auber Cube 2 into. Since I'm not electrically inclined, I will have an electrician handle this. My question is: do I need to tell him anything other than "turn this into a 4 prong GFCI...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Thanks, I just realized I have a water supply line for an outdoor faucet that runs right over my intended brewing area. So adding a tee should solve the feed line question.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

    Appreciate the response.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Would it work to run 20 feet of hose for the supply water to the Slayer? And conversely, could I route the waste water 20 feet back to the sink? I imagine the former is easier than the latter. I'm starting the process of moving to eBIAB and first question is where to set up in my basement...

    Grounded Brewing Kettle sale.

Question - I would need to add a port to the lid for a Steam Slayer, yes? I assume the upper port would be for a whirlpool attachment. Thx

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Hope this worked for you. I flocc'ed myself doing such a temp drop this past weekend...was late on Saturday night so I pitched a pack of S04 at 72 degrees and set the fermentation chamber for 63...bad idea. No activity 24 hours later. Roused the yeast twice and added some Barbarian dregs I had...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

It's not 1 to 1. Check earlier in the thread - I believe Melville or other users did a breakdown of how they compared.
