    Has anyone done this?

This really is a great way to ferment. I think the spunding valve would be really helpful. The thing I like most is how easy it is to take a sample for a hydrometer reading. Just hook up a picnic tap and draw it out. No worry about 02 exsposure or risk of infection. I did a 4.5 gallon batch and...

    Has anyone done this?

I bent my dip tube out until it touched the side of the keg. This left about 1.5-2 inches for the trub. I thought i would still have a problem but even from the first sample i pulled it was pretty clear.

    Has anyone done this?

For the first time I fermented in a corny keg. When it reached a few points from the F.G I pulled the airlock off the QD allowing it to naturally carb. I cold crashed it yesterday and was planning on transferring to a serving keg. Today I put a picnic tap on and pulled a sample. Wow. It's clear...

I've never pitched on a cake, should I do it?

I am no pro by any means. I have been pitching on cakes for a couple years. It may not be the best practice. Maybe it is impacting my beers negatively? I do know I have never had a beer under attenuate using this practice. If you are entering it into a competition or really want to replicate a...

Question about fermenting in corny kegs

My main reason for wanting to carb naturally was to save on cost of corn sugar and c02. Why do you think it would take 4 extra weeks? Couldn't I start carbing in primary? Btw thanks for the advice. You guys ever use the ferm cap? If not how much blow off are we looking at?

Question about fermenting in corny kegs

I am looking into fermenting in corny kegs. I have few questions about techniques. 1. Do I need to cut the dip tube? 2. Should I place the air lock or blow off on the pr valve or the gas QD? 3. I was planning on about 4.5 gallons is this to much? I orderd FERM cap but do not have it yet...

    Brewing with newborns

I have my first due in a few weeks! I love brewing but I think it might be wise to put it aside for a while. In preparation I have taught a few buddies to brew. Hopefully beer karma will come into play here, by my calculations I should have a few years of free brew...!

Do you tip a bartender when filling a growler?

I work very hard in a very busy bar. It used to bother me when people didn't tip. Especially when I went over and beyond to give them a good experience. Now I just feel sorry for them. This type of person most likely has a pretty sad life. I would bet they have pretty superficial relationships...

Do you tip a bartender when filling a growler?

I am currently a bartender and when the customer takes care of me and they come in from time to to time a few of there drinks disappear of the tab. This is pretty common and the management usually encourages it. It builds a client base so..... Tip your bartender you won't regret it!
