I just recieved two Extract kits w/specialty grains in the mail from Austin Homebrew, my first order from them. I had planned on brewing this Sunday, but now my plans have changed and I will not be able to.:(
Does anyone know how long these kits are good for?? Maybe Forrest will chime in...
I have 12 & 22 oz. bottles that I use. I like the 12oz. bottles because if someone doesn't particularly care for it, or just doesn't finish it, then it is not such a waste. I drink the 22oz.'s when I know I will be having a beer or 10.
I also don't care to give samples of my brew in the 22's...
I am going to secondary an IPA that I brewed and I am just curious.......does the carboy need to be covered from light after it is racked??
I have never transfered to secondary before? I have a feeling it does but I just wanted to double check.
Thanks...;)
The other day I brewed a, "California Imperial Pale Ale" kit by Brewers Best. After adding liquid and dry extract and returning to boil I got the ussual foaming and moved the pot back and forth to a cold burner each time it tried to boil over and everything was fine.
Now here's...
Just wondering......are there certain beers that you should use a blowoff tube rather than an airlock. I am talking about extract kits like Brewers Best, True Brew etc....
It sounds like you used too much priming sugar too. I believe 5oz. is the norm... Nine days seems awful fast to go ahead and bottle as well, maybe fermentation wasn't complete.........
I am also curious about this as well, I think I would probably prefer it on the sweeter side. I have everything ready to go, I am just waiting for the Temperature to drop a little more here. It is still to warm in my house to brew anything.
