My First Attempt At Growing Hops.

I've got 12 plants ( 3 each of Comet, Cashmere, Centennial, Cascade ) that i think I'll take the crowns up to thew brewery next year. Probably going to burry 3/4 55 gallon drums in the ground and set a bunch of telephone poles with cabling between them to create some privacy for the back outdoor...

My First Attempt At Growing Hops.

This is the last year for my hops here at the house at least in the ground. They are too aggressive and push out about a 6 foot radius from the center of the crown. Think I will take cuttings and put in large pots to contain these beasts. Chopping shoots in the middle of the yard gets old. They...

    Cleaning a sanke keg

Used dairy pumps are usually my choice. I've got 2 used 1 HP dairy pumps off market place that are beasts. I built a stainless pump cart for one and the other I mounted to an old pressure washer cart. I think I paid $100 for one pump and $140 for the other.

    Glycol chiller issue

The tank insulation is probably not thick enough for the tank to get colder than 36 degrees without the coil freezing then Ice insulates the coil causing the warming. I'm guessing you might be stuck at 36 as your lowest temp and just have to wait longer to get it carbonated.

    Planted hops today

You want to keep about 3 shoots. Whenever you get where you have more than 3 feel free to cut bull shoots. My hops are 3 years old and I'm thinking I may have to try to kill them off next year or the year after that. My Comet is 3+ feet out into my yard from both sides of the center. Dug up and...

Which tap is better? Nuka or Taprite?

630SS is by far my favorite tap. Also have other taps including flow control 650SS which are prone to clogging.

Upgrade Danby Kegerator to Dual Tap

Yes just put beer line through the copper and then electric tape the copper to the beer line to hold it up in the tower.

Upgrade Danby Kegerator to Dual Tap

You can do a passive cooling system for the beer lines. I have multiple kegerators and a few started as mini fridge's and I do have 1 Danby that I put a dual tap tower on. For cooling of the beer lines I run the tubing trough copper pipe that goes up to the tap. I leave a few inches in the...

Add More Beer to Already Filled Keg?

You obviously have a gallon or less of old beer in your keg. If you have 40 or 50 kegs and most are full I would imagine you have growlers sitting around. So either spend a night or 2 drinking the rest of the keg or fill growlers and drink in a timely fashion or give away to friends or family...

    Herms setup positioning temperature sensor

I use a 4 vessel system. My HLT is always heating water for initial strike temp and sparge or a quick cleaning/flush run (205 degrees) right before I top it off for the next batch which gets me close to strike temp( I always double batch). I use a small 5 gallon pot for my herms coil. With such...

    Liquid Side Conversion to Duotight

Is there any reason plastic push to connect connectors have to be used instead of stainless steel barb fittings with normal valves, regulator, etc.?

DIY STAINLESS CFC to show for example?

Yes coils made on a tube/pipe bending machine. You will have to straighten them out to put the smaller diameter pipe inside a larger diameter pipe. That in it self is a challenge. Wish you luck and hope it turns out well.

DIY STAINLESS CFC to show for example?

I believe I could have used the same process pictured to do stainless steel. A tighter radius without a pipe bending machine would not be possible IMO. Only showed the picture of the copper to give you a reference of a possible way to DIY your stainless.

DIY STAINLESS CFC to show for example?

I would say you almost need a pipe bending machine to work with stainless if you are trying to make a coil. It's super hard to bend. Just trying to modify a stainless immersion chiller to work with ace roto tanks is a challenge. The one way you might have a chance is to go big like I did with my...

Glycol chiller dropping tank temperature too low.

In a situation like having 2 fermenters in different phases like one fermenting and one crashing. I would imaging if you had the over shoot problem I would set the temp a little higher on the fermenting batch so the shut off point and over shoot cooling would stop at the actual fermentation...

Safale US-04 yeast = funky flavor?

I've never had any issues with S-04. It starts fast and runs hot so I can see it getting away on people if they are not reigning it in on the temp.
