Advice on possible kegorator purchase - Would you buy it?

Thanks all! I'll ask him to have it powered on and running before I get there to pick it up. If it's not cold, I'll not buy it. Seems like a safe approach to me.

    Theoretical water source for mead

Several years ago I made a guava melomel. I had just gotten back from meeting my In-laws in Puerto Rico and came back with a bunch of fresh guavas. I lived in San Diego at the time so, the wife and I went for a long drive and I pulled the water for my mead from the Palomar Artesian Springs...

Advice on possible kegorator purchase - Would you buy it?

That's what I'm thinking, but I'm inexperienced in these matters. I'd rather hear from people in the know. I do need to get a regulator and the right adapters for Cornelius Kegs, but for the amount I was looking at paying to build one myself, I think this would be a wise purchase.

Advice on possible kegorator purchase - Would you buy it?

A coworker of mine is selling an older commercial Perlick kegorator. He says it will hold 2 full sized kegs plus a 5 gal. keg. It has 3 taps already. It needs a little bit of clean up, some rust removal and the lines need cleaned or replaced. He's asking $300 for it. Is this a good price...

How do I know f I can use this flask to boil starter?

Not too sure why you say they don't cool off fast. I can take my flask from the stove, put it in an ice cream bucket on top of my stirplate, fill the bucket with ice, turn on the stirplate and have nearly ice cold wort in minutes. It takes me longer to cool the same amount of wort in a stainless...

    2010 Homebrewers Census

I started filling it out, but it is so beer centric that I stopped. I don't use hops in my meads and the fields were required fields to boot. I don't want to put false info in and screw up the results.

Keg Storage in a ready-to-use state

I'm going to dig up this old thread for a related question. Instead of storing StarSan in my kegs, is there any harm done if once the keg is clean, spray it down with Starsan, let it dry and then close up the keg for storage? I just picked up two kegs from craigslist which were pretty nasty...

Ever wanted to watch a fellow homebrewer stung by a bee?

Where do you get your bees from? This is something I've thought of doing myself.

First Time using a starter, DAMN!

On my the last batch of beer I started last week, I used a 2 liter starter of Pacman yeast that I stepped up from the sediment from a Rogue Dead Guy's Ale. 2.5 hours after pitching the yeast, I had bubbles in my blow off tube. About 10 hours later the carboy was in a frothy rage as the...

Just picked up my first glass carboy, quick question

Thanks! It's one of the very few original ideas I've had. It sort of describes my attitude over the years of dealing with people (users) and computers! Thanks for posting that thread on carboy marking with armor etch! I knew I couldn't be the only one doing it. Some people there have some...

Just picked up my first glass carboy, quick question

I've done this for my 5 and 6 gallon carboys and all my 1 gallon jugs. 1 gallon jugs: Using a measuring cup, fill the jug with 1 cup of water at a time. Once the water settles, using black electrical tape, place a piece of tap ever so slightly below the water line and one just above. You...

    Pleased with Ubuntu

Man, you sound like me! I've been using Linux since about 2001, started out with RedHat and got tired of the dependency hell it used to have. A while later, I ended up a die hard Gentoo user for the longest while, but I kept tweaking this or tweaking that and breaking my system. I always ran it...

    Thick homemade yogurt?

I've made yogurt a few times and have always added extra powdered milk. This ups the level of milk solids and makes for a thicker yogurt. I've also experimented with adding gelatin to try to make that smooth consistency I'm used to from store bought yogurt.

    Like a mushroom

Should I worry about light when fermenting in buckets for the primary fermentation? Does the bucket plastic block enough light or should it be the same standard, cover everything up?
