How much is two much for one 12 oz beer?

I guess that is one of the bad things living 7 miles from 3 Floyd's. Only having to pay $5/ pint. Just had one this afternoon as a matter of fact. But then again, getting our hands on Cigar City or Russian River stuff is near impossible. The closer you are to one, the further away from others.

    cider won't start fermenting!

When you say you pressed the apples, do you mean you did it or bought it as pressed? If someone else did it, was anything added?

HELP I think I screwed my batch up

Depending on what you are a making, you could just use dry yeast. Or, lots of people have had success with using the no-chill method. Just let the wort naturally cool down, then pitch yeast later.

    First disaster brew day

I was about 5 minutes into bring the wort to a boil, luckily it was not at a boil already. I scooped all my grain out into a smaller pot and poured a good deal of hot, sticky, sugary liquid gold out as well.

    First disaster brew day

The day started out well, crushed the grains yesterday for Ed's Robust Porter. Went to my buddy's yesterday and even got the new to me kettle all cut up and ready to brew for today. Woke up this morning got everything out and setup. Problem #1, forgot to connect the bazooka screen in my mash...

Preparing A Yeast Starter Using Canned Wort

If you are worried about the time in canning, don't be. It is not as if you have to stand over the pressure canned the entire time. The only time you really have to be around it is when it is on heat, which is A half hour at most. I do little things while the canner is doing it's job, mostly...

Big Mouth Bubbler-Plastic - Any Good?

I have several BMBers that I use. I have not had an issue with them being airtight. But then again, I make sure after seeing signs of active fermentation that I give the lids a quick check to make sure they are on tight.

    Another CO2 leak thread

No, I didn't, the gas line kit I bought did not have any. I guess I will have to track some down.

    Another CO2 leak thread

Kegged my first beer a couple weeks ago. Set it and forgot it. Thirsty Night when I got home from work, tried to pour a cold one. Nothing came out. The day before no problems at all. So I get my tank refilled Friday and take it home. I disassemble everything from the gas out on the regulator to...

    Why all the erlenmeyer flasks?

It takes around an hour in a pressure canner start to finish. That is from the time you put it on the stove until you pull the jars out after they have cooled. I can can, haha, around 12 pints at a time in mine. I have not tried canning wort yet though. I would assume you could use second...

    My hefe sample tasted unexpected

I used WB-06 on both of my batches. No temperature control on either one, but they still came out drinkable.

    My hefe sample tasted unexpected

I did the same Hefe Kit. AG vs extract. The extract came out much darker than the AG.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I picked up a 7 lb pork butt a couple days ago and smoke that. In the meantime brewed a 5 gallon batch of Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde.
