Look for Local Brew Clubs that do group buys. Or start your own. I think with our last group buy we bought over 4000# and got great prices. Group Hop buys are possible also if you order mass quantities and are prepared to store it for the year.

So what you are telling me, is that the extra gallon or two of water that does not go into mashing and is used to sparge the small grain bills is giving me a better rinse. ie better effcy numbers. So..with larger grain bills I should mash at a lower volume of water per lb and mash out at a...

+1 on the water then grain. Found its easier, no preheating the tun (start off high) and can bring the temp down easier by stirring or opening the lid than adding strike water to bring it up.
