    first all grain brew.

Keep it simple for now..go with a 10g cooler and batch sparge. Work on your process then upgrade as you want later.

    Fermenting?

Same here...I generally leave my brews in the ferm for a month, then I cold crash for a week before bottling. So that's 5 weeks after brew day. I don't even bother with gravity readings anymore. Once you have a pipeline going the rush to bottle/keg goes away.

How to get rid of all the sediment on the bottom of the bottle? Does racking help?

I only use a primary fermenter. At the end of fermentation I put my fermenter in a freezer at 38F for a week. I rack off that and my beers come out very clear with no trub. One thing though...remove your old airloc and replace with a clean empty one. Use tinfoil and a rubber ban to cap it. If...

    My latest Brew Kettle...

Thanks guys... Yes you can solder aluminum. Do a net search or YouTube search for Super Alloy 5. That should get you started. I'm sure you could find someone locally to weld it for you for short money.

    My latest Brew Kettle...

I'm not a very good technical writer so I didn't think about doing a build thread. Also I'm not a very good planner, I usually design as I go. Also I apologize these pics are not very good, like I said I didn't intend on doing a build thread. I'm hoping this thread may give some people some...

    Leaking Mash Tun

Im sure this question is answered in other threads but I'm forced to surf the net with my iPhone and it doesn't work with this search engine. Anyways, no matter what combination of washers, gaskets or lube I can't get my drain valve on my mash run to seal. I just built it and I'm testing it...

    Dungeons and Dragons

I played a little as a kid...never really got too into it. Is there any online D&D games? I figured by now it would have gone that direction.

    Need Advice

I've gone a month after fermenting was done and the beer came out excellent. Some people have gone months without issue. I read a while back someone let a beer settle out a year with only good results.

    Mash tun

I just ordered a false bottom with the stand from Jaybird. Heard its a perfect fit for my Rubbermaid 10 gal. I was going to go with the braid but opted for this. I'm going to be going no-sparge though....actually I'm building a recirc for it.

Sanitizing/cleaning old beer bottles before using them again.

I have just been using a Star San soak overnight thne I use a bottle jet to rinse for a few seconds. Really I think rinsing out the bottles right after use, storing upside down, jet wash and sanitizing before filling is plenty.

    A Cold Mashing...Is this true?

Yes an hour.... I'm good, no more tests for me. If they we're close in numbers I'd consider it but that's quite a difference. Also with the cold mash my house didn't have that awesome smell you get with hot mashing.
