Any Advice on Piecemealing a BIAB Setup?

Buying the kettle: Now’s the time to consider the future of your 5 gallon batches. Size: I get by just fine with a 12 gallon kettle, but wouldn’t mind a 15. 10 is too small. Ports: I really like having any ports welded, rather than o-rings. Brewhardware sells some fittings that can be...

    Grounded Brewing Kettle sale.

Mine took 14 gallons to cover the top tangential port. 13 would leak out of it if no cap was in place, but not cover it.

Using a Jaded Hydra with a 7GPM pump instead of garden hose

I use the hose to down to 100*F as quickly as possible. My ground water can be in the 80’s - 90’s, so that’s a -s far as that trick goes. I can generate 10 gallons of hot water in 2 minutes. Then I go with a modified option B. I keep frozen bottles at a few degrees below 0*F in the chest...

Recommend Me Some Circuit Breakers / eBrewery Planning

When thinking ahead and planning on breakers, remember that the 80A breaker you install outside is just there to protect the wire it feeds. All of the breakers downstream of it do not have to add up to 80A or less. All of the breakers downstream just have to be small enough to protect the wires...

Recommend Me Some Circuit Breakers / eBrewery Planning

Sounds like the smartest plan is a 100A subpanel. One breaker outside and the subpanel you can grow into. Run the wires to the subpanel big enough to handle the 100A now. Check and see if the rest of your panel is consuming more than 100A itself. If your home is consuming more than 100A...

    6 gallon Italian glass carboy

I was thinking about using a keg for the last rack. Would probably make bottling easier too. But all the kits call for 6 gallons. I didn’t want to waste 1 gallon of wine or split it into two kegs because of the headspace. I feel like my wine making will be fairly infrequent as well. It...

I’m with you, but I want to try my hand at a wine kit. The wine community says carboys are a must for bulk aging.

ESB fermented with something other than the Fuller's strain?

I’ve used 1318 for an ESB and loved it. No experience with the others. The ESB, I pitched at 64*F and crept the temp up 1*F per day until 74*F. There was lots of yeast fruity character and the roastiness of the 60L was really brought out front. I’ve since brewed a golden ale pitched at...

    Clean in place

I use these fittings on my chugger pump: https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/nptswivelhexnut58barb.htm Cheap, no tools needed, they seal perfectly and get undone every brew. The threads themselves stay clean, as the o-ring seals at the face/end of the male fitting.

    Clean in place

The pump and ball valves are the only pieces I “CIP.” I leave my pump, valves and hoses configured in whirlpool after the brew. I first dump the trub, before filling the kettle with 5 gallons of hot water saved from the chilling, and add PBW. Run the pump for about 15 minutes while I scrub the...
