☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

probably best to pass on this one. blueberry bomb coffees will turn you into a junkie. constantly chasing that first high. 2 years after my first cup I was sent to rehab but relapsed shortly after. it's been a very dark existence ever since

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

SM’s posted a slew of new coffee’s. All Ethiopian’s are 20% off & a couple nice ones are listed: https://www.sweetmarias.com/ethiopia-dry-process-guji-hangadhi-6039.html Hangadhi is a "wild" coffee in terms of intense fruit and rustic sweetness, notes of tropical fruit, ripe blueberry, stone...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

IMHO espresso doesn’t match the camping vibe. It’s too short of an experience & it’s roots are based on fast coffee. I’ve made countless cups off the grid & savoring a mug of filter coffee is where it’s at. A plastic Melitta or V60 & pre-ground from home is where the magic happens. Hot water...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

This is my 5th pickup & my 2nd crew cab and that’s the only way to go if you ask me. I could never go back to a standard cab or even super for that matter. My company truck is a 2017 F-250 super cab & the difference is remarkable in cabin space.

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

Re: DE1. The thing I can’t wrap my head around is the machine chasing profiles. Historically, one adjusts grind & recently preinfusion to suit the coffee. How does one adjust grind when the machine is continually subordinate to pressure? Surely there is more to it but at a glance it comes...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

@TallDan - I would steer clear of Slayer personally. It is an incredible machine that makes top tier shots that other machines cannot match. It’s maintenance issues though are thoroughly documented on the web, primarily the pump. I was close to buying one but I know how upset I would be...

☕ Coffee ☕: Ingredients, Roasting, Grinding, Brewing, and Tasting

One piece of advice for hand grinders, steer clear of ceramic burrs. They crush/pulverize the coffee vs. steel burrs that cut the coffee as it grinds. As a result, ceramic burrs tend to produce a larger percentage of fines/dust. This is no problem for espresso but can really throw off a cup...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

@Northern_Brewer - that’s interesting info. Can you break it down for the lay person on what that beta.... activity means & how it translates to in the glass? What would you say the difference between the BRY-97 & New England would be?

@TrickyDick did you (or anyone else?) roast the Guji Guracho from the GCBC? I ground a dose today for an iced coffee and the dry berry aroma was very strong. Did not translate well to the cup, perhaps bc it’s iced? It’s there no doubt, but wow from the aroma

congrats. i think you made a great decision & i look forward to hearing about your journey. I have to ask though; does it have those ridiculous 5mm probes? And was a Phidget 1048 included? ----> are you familiar with what settings to use in Artisan? (and have you updated this software...

Green coffee should not be stored in breathable bags. It will lead to premature degradation & moisture loss.

At about 2 seconds in, you can hear the vanguard beans starting to pop. I am posting this video to demonstrate how audible 1C is on the Tj-066 even with older, dried out greens. Ambient noise appears quite loud but you can compare the 1C pops to the very light sounds of the trier sliding...

@MaxStout - it's funny, nobody would bat en eye if a nice steakhouse "banned ketchup/A-1" but people are funny about coffee. i'm a big whiskey fan myself. i haven't dived into scotch but have a deep cabinet full of american bourbon. i don't mind it neat but usually have a few cubes. i feel...
