To scoop out hot break or leave it?

The only time I see it worth the effort is when I dissolve bakers choclate into the boil for my decadence stout,, I scoop the excess butter fat so it doesnt smother the yeast, otherwise, I see no reason to risk a steam burn when my false bottom and whirlpool keeps most of the undesirables out...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed a 22 C wood aged beer, today 5 gallon batch, first run with the new monster mill,, I'm happy with the results,I had to open the gap to .048 then run a second run at 040 for the wheat, or it would stall a ,little stronger motor probably would cure this but its only a matter of about 3...

    I hate grain mills

One thing to remember when setting the gap on a 3 roller,(monster mill) when turning the knob on the shaft end, you tighten the gap CLOCKWISE, then the opposite(non shaft end) end turn the adjuster COUNTER clockwise, otherwise, the 3rd roller large gap will be wider at one end than the other...

Monster MM 3 G grind station build

It might be related to your search engine, as ling as you get the 5k your golden, in my search engine it had 2 buttons, the default was thev10K 135RPM, in the specs. It had both specifications, at first they didnt make sense, then when I re read it, I saw the 5K button, when I enabled it, the...

Monster MM 3 G grind station build

It seems the default is the 10K, , I originally fell into the trap, then when checking on my order, realized, I had ordered the 10 K, once I figured out how the system worked, I clicked the 5 K, ordered it, then promptly cancelled the previous order , ya gotta live the simplicity of Amazon.

Monster MM 3 G grind station build

I dont have the link, but, if you look up on Amazon, it's the YIYIIBY-US 0-270 RPM, 250 watt, variable speed gear motor, you want the 5k 0-270 not the 10 K 0- 135 Rpm motor.

What came in the mail for you today?

Yes sir, and it performs well, initially, I set the RPMs @ 200 ( no load) which is %60, she jammed I moved the gap to the ,factory setting of .045(from .040) and set the no.load setting to 220 RPMs ,@ 90%, it will start with a full hopper and be done in seconds...

Monster MM 3 G grind station build

Now that the tests are complete, here are my findings: 1) starting at 60% which is 200 RPM no load just jams the rollers. I moved it to 220 no load and it will start and mill with a full hopper. 2) as constructed with this motor, .040 is too tight, she is a shredder ,moving back to the...

    Secondary

I always secondary ,I tried leaving it in the fermenter a few times, and IMHO, it wasn't as clear and just wasnt as flavorfull,,I just feel it gives me a better product and frees up.my fermenters., its probably just in my head, but that's where itbluves,I haven't been doing this as long as many...

Finished the final details, 3 " ventilation fan is wired into the main.power,a Merv 11 filter affixed to the inner wall in front of the fan, should capture any fine dust. I fashioned an acrylic gaurd oover the coupler from 1/8 lexan, and heated it to bend it into a "U". I made a cover for the...
