    Perpetual Spring Chilling

Not really, they are refrigerant dependent and are not heat exchangers.

    Perpetual Spring Chilling

FWIW, before I made the designated cooling tower, I filled 100 at. Cooler with water and ice and used a submersible 600 gph pump to pump ice water through my immersion chiller to cool my wort, it was a giant PITA but it only used 100 quarts and chilled the wort in about the same amount of...

    Perpetual Spring Chilling

That unit has been in place for 3 years, it maintains 40 degrees 24/7 as I said during the cooling process when I'm returning 212 degree boiling water through my return, it only rises to the mid 50 to high 50s by the time my wart is 75 degrees and it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to do it..it...

    Perpetual Spring Chilling

Yes, the canister filter is the pump, I had it so its convient, some of the chillers cool better than others, I have another one set up in a 10 gallon cooler set to 34, I run non toxic antifreeze through that one, it is set up to chill my fermenters, that one is 1/4:hp and can go to 32 degrees...

    Perpetual Spring Chilling

I do not have a link to the chiller, I had it on a shelf as a spare for one of my Reef tanks, I bought it( several in fact because they were half price) at a going out of buisness sale, it's a 1/3 hp titanium chiller, I have a cold water feed plumbed to the storage tank ( 35 gallon Brute trash...

    Perpetual Spring Chilling

I've been using this system for 3 years, it uses an aquarium chiller, a canister filter to.circulate water through the chiller, it is plumbed overhead and pumped with an auxiliary pump through the cooling coil, quick connectors make removing the emerson chiller for cleaning easy , the 35 gallon...

    Focus for 2025?

I was laying in bed last night reflecting, preparing for my first brew of 2025, Five years ago , I brewed my first(,extract) batch from a Great Fermentations recipe kit , I remember fighting with the cans of extract, the hops clogging the false bottom, wind blowing over my premeasured hops, the...

Busy day today, made my R/O/DI water for fridays brew, added my "brewing salts" checked the ph,and retained 4.25 gallons for strike water putting the balance of 6,5 gallons in my hot liquor tank. Installed my digital read out I got the other day, then crushed my grain for Fridays brew day...

    What are you drinking now?

This is the last one from a 30 month old batch, I usually keep a few for a year to compare notes from first to last, I figure New years eve was as good as any for a test, this is a BJCP 13A sweet stout..first sip tells me she aged well, I notice the choclate and bitterness more now than my...

What came in the mail for you today?

I'm kind of a control freak and a tinkerer, ( being a machinist and mechanic might have a bearing in it)Brewing is a hobby, my beer will never be judged in a competition, or sold in a market, if it tastes good, and others think it tastes good, that's all I want out of the hobby, back to the...

Hop basket spider whatever. Never again!

I also run a steam condenser, I brew in a Brewzilla 35L, i bent one of the arms on the spider so it sits inside the welded ring for the malt tube, I do not use the window, I cover the viewing port with a folded towel, because even at 1K watts you still risk a boil over, I can reach through...

Hop basket spider whatever. Never again!

Some good suggestions here. Absolutly no company on brew day, my wife only visits to bring me a fresh cup of coffee. When I hop heavy, I use 2 spiders, I also have a thin bladed long handled plastic mash paddle, I agitate the contents every 10 minutes or so, scraping the walls of the spider to...

    Welcome back to me?

Welcome back to the hobby. Everybody participates in a hobby for.particular reasons, Each person exhibits differant degrees of enthusiasm, since this is your second "go round",there has to be an attraction, this time, go minimal until you find your level of enthusiasm, and proceed from there.

    What are you drinking now?

Paying the price for not brewing for a year (thankfully I have 3 fermenters going now) drinking a Sam Adam's winter lager, its like going home with the ugliest girl at closing time, its OK as long as no.one sees.
