I start with a cooler of cold water, I freeze 2 coffee cans of water ahead of time so I have 2 blocks of ice as well and put it in the cooler by the end of the boil, it still is about 50 degrees or so(cold to the touch)..without the ice, the water gets pretty warm, the manufacturer suggests...

We just renewed as I said earlier, but we are old school, and sent a check with the payment coupon( of coarse it's already been deposited), so no auto renewal, and that's the crying shame, they took my money, knowing full well what they were going to do, I feel they were very underhanded...

BYO - no more printed magazines

This news sucks, I dont have an on line account, and do not want one, I hate the fact that I cant take my magazine and sit in a chair and read weather in my front porch, in the boat or on. Vacation.. Not everything is better on line.

    Treating Homebrewing Seriously

I'm a little late to this party(I've been away for awhile) I look at brewing like I do my other hobbies( fishing, fish keeping, wood working) if your going to invest time in it, its worth doing well, but it should never be like a job, when /if that happens it's time to get out of that hobby...

    Buying a grain mill

Its time to up the game, I'm very happy with my current set up, but, I feel there is room for improvement,. So who's brewing this weekend?

After a years hiatus, where every spare minute was taken to rebuild my boat from the keel up, I'll be cleaning, sanitizing and checking operation of my equipment in anticipation of a Saturday brew date with a spiced winter ale. I've come to the conclusion that "store bought" beer sucks and cant...

Stuck recirculation BM’s Cream of 3 Crops

I think the minute rice is your problem, rice in that form absorbs 3 X its weight in water .the swelling of the kernels would be a problem in my eyes..flaked rice is a whole different animal.

Stuck recirculation BM’s Cream of 3 Crops

Do you mill your own grains or does the supplier do it, I'm thinking it's the grind/crush, I know the only time I have issues is whenver I get the grains from( I don't have a mill YET) a different supplier and the crush is fine, in that case, I add a 1/2 lb. Of rice hulls and have no issues.
