    I live in Oldsmar and I have noticed the same taste in my first batch. For now I have switched to bottled spring water until I can get a RO filter or some other solution. BTW what part of Tampa are you in? FishH2o :mug:

    Why not use an anti foam of some sort? I have been using some in my starters and I have not seen any ill effects.

    Enjoy! I grew up in Sulphur and if you can taste the earth like we do.. then you will be doing just fine.. Brew 5 gallons a week.. Us coonasses like to drink and eat so we need a few cases on reserver. :mug:

    When did you really find out what RDWHAHB means??? I just brewed a Belgian double that I thought was going to taste like crap.. I live in Florida and when I was fermenting the temps were very high 70 – 73… then a cold front came in and the bottling temps were 59 – 65. So I cracked one open today...

    Bitter Wort!!!

    Whats crazy is I made a starter and I took some of the wort that was 75 degrees. I took that wort put it in the flask stirred it on the stir plate and it is already fermenting. The carboy is bubbling about one bubble every 6 seconds and its only been 2 hours!!!!

    You will be fine. I had the ice bath waiting so I turned the stove off, made sure my thermometer was sanitized, added the thermometer to the flask then transfered it to the ice bath. My only suggestion is to make sure the depth of the ice bath is less than the wort in the flask. what I'm saying...

    I hear you.. I would for sure put it in the fridge tomorrow morning and let it settle for 4 - 6 hours.. I'm brewing tomorrow afternoon. It just looks like I should have more.. well thats the problem. This is my first one so I don't know how much is really in it from just looking :-(
