That is amazing ... totally something to add to the experimental file! Let us know how it matures!

    3 wire 240v GFCI question

Sorry for the late reply here ... GFCIs are a tricky subject. I have (2) possible guesses: First, your pump(s) are leaking a bit (something over 5ma) of current across their windings, which is dissipated through the path of least resistance ... your ground on the 240V connection. In this...

First AG - BIAB Enhanced Double Decoction ... say WHAA?

So the SWMBO is totally sick of hearing about it, so I am writing this post... Today was my first AG brew and I jumped off the cliff with a BIAB decocted Kolsch Style Beer. I followed BrauKaiser's post on Enhanced Double Decoction to a tee and despite a last min panicked change to add...

    3 wire 240v GFCI question

First, thelorax121 - sorry for half hijacking your thread here; but, this is a good topic of discussion for those interested in a bit of theory. Additionally, if there are any TV/Radio Station Electricians that want to chime in - Please Do! They have the bigger problems with grounding and...

    3 wire 240v GFCI question

My 2 cents would be to simply cap the ground/neutral from the 240V and ensure that the ground from the 120V service is beefy enough to handle the amperage of a ground out of all the supplied amperage (both the 240 & 120 circuits). IN THEORY - if your element went bad you would case ground to...

    Onions?

What about this ... use an electric skillet (a la - Alton Brown's FOS) salt and butter and saute for 45 min - an hour until they are a mahogany brown. Then pour a great dry white wine and some apple juice over the onions. Reduce to a syrup, strain and add in at flameout. I honestly thing this...

Does your SO support your brewing?

Got home from work late last night and caught the SWMBO buried in the "Beer Chicks" website!!! She has been very supportive of my efforts and I hope this is the grooming of a brew partner!

If you force carbonate is your beer ready seconds after putting in the keg?

I am not a kegger so this is just my 2 cents ... everything in this hobby takes time to develop. Muddled flavors become crisp complex and deep over time. Let your beer condition! RDWHAHB!

    Bottling while sick

Ah I woke up this morning 4 hours early with a 12 hour day ahead of me ... after 4 cups of coffee and 3 hours, my 5 gallons were bottled and my yeastie beasties were washed ... I would simply change the coffee in the recipe for Dayquil and bang it out!

    3 wire 240v GFCI question

Yeah without some real information about all the involved devices, I think your tag line speaks worlds ... I would love to recommend that he meter the potentials between the different grounds and neutrals to ensure no ground loops/floating grounds/improperly bonded neutrals; but, it would not...

    3 wire 240v GFCI question

Perhaps I am miss reading this but have you installed a GFCI on the 240V circuit?

    Sealing brew-bucket lid

... I will admit that I enjoy seeing the airlock bubble; but, after several batches the seals on my fermentor lid do not seal as tight as when I first started. To that end, I do this to my buckets to ensure that the lids are air tight... giving me all that sweet sweet airlock activity - lol
