Oxebar 1 gallon (4L) mini keg like a regular big bottle

i dont think it will preserve any better than any other opened beer bottle. the oxygen ingress when opened is the same no matter what vessel you use. i think the idea of the better preservation with these vessels as opposed to regular clear PET implies that the bottle isnt opened. just...

HBT Beer Guru Yeast Rinsing Check

looks fine prolly is. but why wash just throw the whole enchilada in there it works just as well with less risk of infection and oxidation. IMO

Oxebar 1 gallon (4L) mini keg like a regular big bottle

i am not sure what you are asking but any pressurizable vessel can act as a large bottle. a corny keg is just a large bottle with the added benefit of having ball lock connectors. but if you are just using it for a large bottle a 2 liter soda pop bottle with carb caps is basically the same...

oxebars on sale for 37 $

i was referring to the 20 liters. the smaller ones are a different animal. the 2 gallons are too tall with a high center of gravity. the one gallon are really great size and fit anywhere. they are great entry into kegging. and great for small jobs but the tapping system leaves a lot to...

    Help with Perry

no prob;lem. airlock activity is not a good representation of fermentation. also the longer it sits is probably better . warm or cold ciders age well IME. they get smoother with time.

Missed OG mark in first all grain brew

i agree the crush is big. but there are a few things you can do to help . stir the grain bed a few times in the first 20 mins or so. that helps me at least. dont oversparge. acid malt can lower the pH and i think that helps my efficiency. i dont think 90 mins has much over 60 mins in...

what temp do you serve your ipas at.

Filtering wort from Foundry to fermenter

agreed . lol when i whirlpool i just stir with a big spoon. i dont use the pump . so although most trub is in the center there is still a lot on the sides. i am not sure if the edge pickup would work good without some sort of trub trapper which i think they stopped making. i usually...

Filtering wort from Foundry to fermenter

clear wort does not equal clear beer . i have clogged the bazooka before and ended up siphoning the beer off the trub. that works well also.

    Boil length

i boil everything 60 mins. most conversion occurs in first 20 mins IME anyway. i think the 90 min thing may be a myth perpetuated from a long time ago when malts were less modified( not sure if this is the right term) i think i read this somewhere.

    Yeast from Yoghurt?

hi dave its not yeast. its bacteria culture from the yogurt. possbily lactobacillus. they will ferment the sugar into i think lactic acid. from google: Yogurt typically contains two main types of bacteria: Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus. These bacteria are added to...

Filtering wort from Foundry to fermenter

i think most filters will clog quickly. i have noticed that if i tilt my aio a little to the opposite side of the ball valve then whirlpool and let it settle that the trub settles away from the bazooka filter. then i tip it too the other side when draining through the ball valve and i can drain...
