how does a carboy do what it does?

I am under the impression it help to clear up the beer and leave sediment behind. I am still very new and don't know half as much about brewing as many people here. There is a lot of very helpful information here.

    Pass the Time

Just a conversation thread.. What do other home brewers do to pass the time, between beers fermenting and brewing a new beer? Just general discussion, I am finding it very hard to hold off kegging my first beer even though everything I read is telling me to wait.. Cheers :mug:

    Recipes

Thank you for the advice, I do like to support my LHBS I just thought if they might charge more b/c it is a clone brew already put together. If I could buy everything I needed seperately I would try that instead of buying the pre-packaged clone. Just thought I would throw it out there and see...

Like you said the DME grains irish moss and bittering all come in the clone kit. I know I am new and should stick to something easy but I keep thinking if I don't buy a clone boxed recipe it could become a bit cheaper for me. Agree?

New home brewer here, I was wondering, for the future, if it is cheaper and wiser to buy ingreadiants in bulk from my local brew store? I have only made 2 home brews at this point and I purchased the clone recipes, to get my feet wet, and the prices were between $45-$55. Is this expensive? I...
