    RO water transfer pump

I need to transfer RO water from a non-pressurized tank to my HLT. I can't gravity feed so I will need to pump it. I have a spare stainless Chugger pump and wondered if there were any reasons not to do this. I have read where RO water can be hard on certain substrates. Thanks

    K-RIMS build question

I don’t plan to have any lids off after dough. Not sure I understand the LODO concern here. After dough in, the lids on both kettles will do on through the duration of the mash.

    K-RIMS build question

Yes, I have that bottom screen from brew hardware and used in my previous setup with the bag. So I’m trying to decide now which would be better: Use the brewhardware BIAB bottom with a bag in my new mash tun. It would make it easy to pull grains with a pulley system that I already have or...

    K-RIMS build question

I felt that k-rims was a good option for me to move from a hybrid gas/electric setup. I had a 5500w 240v element in my RIMS tube that I ran at 120v on a single vessel BIAB setup connected to a controller. This resulted in a low density wattage which was great for maintaining mash temperature in...

    K-RIMS build question

I am putting this system together. I was curious about what your thoughts were about using a bag on the mash tun side. I have a stainless false bottom/grate from brewhardware that sits under the bag. I have a pulley system so my thoughts are could this help with grain passing through the system...

Thanks, I might just take you up on that offer.

    RO Water

Wow. Didn’t realize what I was trying to do was so complicated. I thought just buy a food grade plastic tank with a lid, put in a float valve at my desired fill level, and put in a drain valve. My only concern was the flow might flow at the drain valve might be slow without some type of vent at...

    RO Water

I bought the Premium RO system from Buckeye Hydro. Nothing like that. It looks impressive even though I know very little about RO systems. This system will be my first system and after much research and recommendations from this forum I reached out to Russ for help. He set me up with what I need...

    RO Water

Martin the tank is 30 a gallon tank. With the stand total cost is around $150. I brew with a kettle rims system that uses two 20 gallon side by side kettles and two pumps . So 15 gallon batches usually. I said earlier that I fill the mash tun but I meant bk/hlt is where I would fill and heat...

    RO Water

I had settled on buying a 25 gallon cone bottomed tank and stand and then installing a float valve. On brew day pump it over to kettle and let tank dry. Glad to here that the Auto Sparge will work. Just a quick question about the tank option. If I ended up going that route, would I need some...

    RO Water

Just purchased an RO water system. Rather than purchasing a holding tank, I thought I might possibly hook up the RO output to my Blichman Auto Sparge on my mash tun where I would have it set at the level of water I needed for my mash. Thinking I could turn it on a day ahead of time and when I’m...

    Recirc eBIAB Kettle Return Options

I have never had the SS Brewtech at the bottom of the mash. It sits on top so the returned wort flows back through the grains. I have brewed six batches on this system now and so far so good.

    Fermentation Temperature Delima

Last night I had an 11° drop inside the freezer. I am a little surprised it would fall that much.

    Fermentation Temperature Delima

That's awesome. I will order one today. Might use a splitter off the heat side and use two heating pads since the freezer is large.

    Fermentation Temperature Delima

I didn't know such a controller existed; and at less than half of what I paid for my other. I have several heating pads designed to help grow vegetable seedlings. Seems like dropping one of those in the freezer hooked up to the heating side of the inkbird would maybe work. Looks like there is...

    Fermentation Temperature Delima

I agree; good advice. I will put a thermometer in the freezer and take some recordings for a few days. I was going by the readout of the wort temperature on my controller so I assumed it was correct.
