    Hull Melon Pale Ale Help

First time kegging, no time to bottle these days so I sprung for a setup. Missed my OG somehow only hit 1.043 (who knows how) and finished at 1.006 after 27 days in primary. Chilled it, and kegged it Sunday. I'm hopeful.

Recipe Feedback- Heady "type" IPA (Brewing tomorrow)

Got some Vermont Ale Yeast from Yeast Bay 4L starter (2 steps 2/2) going now. I have a ****load of hops on hand. Overboard on the hops? Is there such a thing? I'm fired up for this one. Was planning on getting this bottled pretty quickly (17 days)...Ready to drink in total of about 4 weeks...

    Partial Mash Sparge: Best Efficiency?

I've done a few PMs, and have used both the "dunk" and the "pour sparge water over bag" methods of sparging. What give me best efficiency/extraction? I am planning on mashing 7.5LBs of grain in 11.25qts/2.8 gallons water Sparge with roughly same amount (3 gallons). Am I better off...

    Using coffee beans in secondary

I just did a stout and racked on top of lightly crushed (whacked them with a rolling pin...lightly) coffee beans in secondary. Came out great.

Yeast Starter Step Up: Am I Over-Pitching?

So what is the benefit of pitching at 1.0 VS .75? What will be the difference in my final product?

Yeast Starter Step Up: Am I Over-Pitching?

So let's go with 306B....Is there anything wrong with me doing a smaller (1L) as the 2nd step? I know it's probably not optimal, but just want to pitch the correct amount.

Yeast Starter Step Up: Am I Over-Pitching?

I've been using "high gravity" ale under target pitch rate. Too much?

If anyone is interested. WLP004 took my Oatmeal, Chocolate, Coffee Stout from 1.082 to 1.017 in less than 2 weeks. 3.5 gallon batch. Used 1 vial with 1L starter. I'm jazzed!

    WLP004 for Imperial Stout?

Got a starter going now for brew day Saturday. Will WLP004 get the job done here? Looking to get to 1.020 or lower here. Is that realistic? Should I target a lower OG? Any thoughts are appreciated. HOME BREW RECIPE: Title: Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Stout Author: KR Brew Method...

    So...What just happened?

Thanks for the replies...I'm just gonna chalk it up to a WTF moment. Maybe the boil overs were much worst than I thought...Will check the keggle for leaks. All I know it: I threw in the 2L starter, and it took off like a rocket ship......had to add a blow off...So, there's a good amount of...

    So...What just happened?

Re: Boil overs- Tough to say, mostly foam. I don't think I could have lost 2 gallons, could I?

    So...What just happened?

RE: Honey- That's what I figured, I had the honey in warm water, so it runny. And should have disolved.

    So...What just happened?

Grains were crushed! And I got a sweet wort out of the mash, no doubt. I aerated the wort with drill attachment, then sampled. Should have been mixed just fine.

    So...What just happened?

Took all pre-boil readings with refractometer. Post- boil, I measured sample via refractometer & hydrometer. Both read low 1.040s. I topped up an absurd amount (2.5 gallons), but that 3 gallons should have had a ton of sugars in it. So, post top-up (5.5 gallons), reading was 1.042.

    So...What just happened?

Yup. Trying to figure out how I went from 8.5 gallons at 1.044 to 3 gallons of 1.042.
