    Help with Mash Chemistry/Recipe Feedback

Hi all- Doing a BIG IPA for a birthday brew on Friday. Banging my head again wall here....Using Brewer's Friend (which is great), but the Mash Calculator is driving me nuts. Brew Systems: Spike, Blichmann, Sabbco

Hey hey.....I made jump from partial mash to all grain 3 years ago. I have 10 gallon Blichmann BrewEasy....See the thread on it here. Electric is the way to go IMO....I never saw need for 3 vessel system...Just more to clean. If I can make 10-15 gallon batches at 65% efficiency, that works for...

Big Oatmeal Chocolate Coffee Stout- What you think?

Made a similar version of this last year, came out great. Decided to bump OG up (looking for 8% ABV, dry stout, roasty coffee/chocolate, not overly sweet), decided to go with Omega British Ale I (WLP007), previously used Irish Ale Yeast with great results. Added roasted barley to mix as well...

Also: sample was super clear, very unlike Conan. I pumped it to 70 and dry hopped today.

Tips on using DIPA Ale - Omega Yeast Labs (heady topper yeast)

I used Omega DIPA for a NE IPA I brewed two weeks ago: took gravity reading= 1.017-1.020ish. OG was 1.070 (6 gallon batch). 2.5 L starter on stirplate. I’m really disappointed. Had it at 67-68 whole way, bubbled steady (not vigorously) for a week. I was hoping 1.010-1.012 FG. I’ve used this...

    Water Chem/Efficiency Questions

Hi all....A couple of questions on water/efficiency. Due to my well water, which has a Ph of 7.7, I can't get my mash Ph (according to EZ Water Calc & Brewer's Friend) below 5.6 (that's with salt additions). My system is the Blichmann Breweasy, and my efficiency expectations are around 65-70%...

Let's try this again: AKDY 36" 760 CFM Convertible Wall Mount Range Hood in Silver (GVBI36S) Bought it on WayFair for $182. Suits my needs just fine...Fan is powerful, LED lights which help over the BK...Even has a timer, which I use as my boil timer.

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Agree with previous 2 posters...I'm still trying to get decent efficiency (I would be fine with 65%)...I'm still working on that. As stated, there is a learning curve. That being said, I'm making very good beer, less to cleanup....Not sure a 3 vessel system would ever make sense for me. (I...

Thanks again. Channeling certainly has been an issue as well, will work on that.

    Blichmann BrewEasy

My pre-boil OG was 1.048 = 10.5 gallons. Sorry for the confusion, after the mash, I wound up with 12.5 gallons @ 1.040. I boiled down to 10.5 gallons @ 1.048 So i started my 60 minute boil of 10.5 gallons.

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Thanks for the help, it is appreciated. I did not hit my pre boil gravity, I hit 1.048 (1.053 expected) Still dialing in my settings on Brewer's Friend- Had 1.5 gallons extra pre-boil on Sunday: 12.5 gallons in kettle @ 1.040 I boiled off 1.5 gallons in 1 hour (99% power), so now my...
