    Carboy opening clogged after primary

Is it rock solid or just foam?

    Airlock noise

that happened to my walls the night i set it to ferment. Went with a blowoff tube after that then back to an airlock once things settled down.

    Airlock noise

Yep, there is water in the airlock. Just wanted to check. Not worried about the beer being infected.

    Airlock noise

My raspberry wheat which has been fermenting for a few days is making a light whistling noise at times. I'm assuming this is normal?

    Fermentation Time

From what I've read by letting it ferment longer it gives the yeast time to clean up after itself. Just because the airlock isn't bubbling doesn't mean it isn't still active.

    This is killing me

Agreed. I've got 2 going right now and it's driving me nuts to see how it turns out.

    Boom!!! Crime scene

Yes, I had an airlock on but this was using a 6.5 gallon Better Boy. I think if I would have used a regular fermenting bucket I probably would have been fine. Either way I have a blow off tube set up now and a valuable lesson. If that's my biggest mistake out of my first two batches I'm...

    Boom!!! Crime scene

Sorry guys, no pics. I wanted to clean it up before the wife came down and made a real crime scene. Dried raspberry beer is not easy to clean off the ceiling and walls. I think I'll call it Shotgun Raspberry Wheat due to the spray pattern on the walls.

    Boom!!! Crime scene

Should have used a blow off tube. Woke up this morning to check on my Raspberry Wheat and walked into a crime scene. Spent about an hour wiping raspberry off my ceiling and walls. I've got a blow off tube in place and have learned a valuable lesson. Fermentation is still going crazy on...

First batch is in the fermentor

Woo hoo, airlock is bubbling away. I know it's nothing big but it's nice to see things moving along in the right direction.

First batch is in the fermentor

That's promising. So you never saw any signs of fermentation?

First batch is in the fermentor

First brew went fairly uneventful. I made sure I tried to keep everything clean and sanitary. Made a Texas Blond Ale from AHS. OG was spot on. Now I'm just waiting for it to start to ferment. Going to let it sit for at least 3 weeks. I did try the sample I took for the OG. It was very...

    mixing spoon

From what I've read you don't want to use wood. It is hard to get all of the bacteria out and get really clean.

    Eager to get started...

Read around. Most here ferment for 3-4 weeks.

    Secondary Fermentation?

New member here so hopefully I'm not out of line. Read the stickies at the top of this forum and it should help you. From what I've read and seen it's not necessary. If I understand correctly it's primarily for clearing the beer after primary is done.

Just ordered my kit and first recipe

New member here. Just ordered the deluxe kit from AHB and got the Southern Brown Ale with it. Can't wait to get it and get started. Don't really have any questions. Just wanted to say hi and how excited I am. I've read a ton and am anxious. :rockin:
